Chapter 306: Dropping Jaws
"Whoa—"
Naruto pointed at the Earth Fortress Wall that nearly reached the sky, his mouth hanging so wide it looked like his jaw was about to drop off. His finger trembled as he pointed at the structure. Then, he began gesturing wildly with both hands, measuring the height, width, and scale in the air.
"Do I... do I have to be this strong to become Hokage? No wait... Uncle Tonbo is only the Acting Hokage..."
Naruto, whose academic scores were never great, had run out of words to describe this level of power. He simply felt that his goal of becoming Hokage had suddenly drifted much further away. Moreover, could his Rasenshuriken even put a dent in a wall like this?
Suddenly, the sparring sessions he had practiced with Kakashi felt like child's play.
Kakashi was equally speechless, especially after hearing Tonbo's jab. Does he have to bring up that book every single time he speaks?!
"I say... we're just testing Naruto's jutsu. There's no need for such a massive wall, is there? What a waste of chakra!" Kakashi finally managed to say.
"As expected of Senior Tonbo! A man who has actually held the title of Hokage is on a completely different level than your dog-headed Earth Style, Senior Kakashi!" Yamato chimed in from the side.
"...You bastard, you're the Earth Style specialist. Your own Earth Style is lacking compared to this, isn't it?" Kakashi barked back.
"Ah—haha! Well, if I use my full power, I could probably make a wall this big too." Yamato scratched his head. Truthfully, it was impressive. To raise such a massive fortification so effortlessly was one thing, but the structure seemed different from a standard Earth Style wall. He looked at the smooth, screen-like section of rock on the left side of the fortress.
Thud! Thud!
Tonbo and Tsunade jumped down from the heights.
"Try your new jutsu on it. When I was bored, I developed this 'Earth Wall' to test various data points for ninjutsu and Taijutsu. It can relatively accurately measure the rough data of an attack, so we don't have to risk having two people fight each other. You could call it an 'educational' type of ninjutsu," Tonbo explained.
Lifestyle jutsu and educational jutsu were the types Tonbo used most frequently. His previous Battlefield Simulation Genjutsu fell into the latter category.
Tsunade reached out and felt the texture of the wall. "Can I try it first?"

Before Tonbo could finish, Tsunade slammed her fist into the wall. Using a single point of impact to shatter the surface, a massive cloud of debris erupted. The group was sent reeling by the shockwave, ending up covered in dust.
As the smoke cleared, a crater over ten meters wide appeared in the wall.
"Monster strength... Granny Tsunade is so scary..." Naruto started to say, but was silenced by a threatening glare from Tsunade. Kakashi and Yamato stood there, stunned and covered in grime.
"Look over there. That's the data," Tonbo said, perfectly clean and unaffected by the dust. He pointed to the smooth rock surface in the distance.
Text began to manifest on the stone. Naruto and the others rushed over to read it.
Taijutsu
Chakra Control Requirement: High.Chakra Waveform: Employs a 'Valley Echo' effect. Upon release, chakra is immediately cycled back. This extreme speed causes the outward release to collide with the inward flow, creating force that far exceeds conventional ninjutsu and results in large-scale destruction...Evaluation: An art of extreme and absolute violence.
"The data shown is based on the impact on this specific wall. The standard is based on the knowledge in my own mind, so it's not your typical grading system," Tonbo said, tilting his head back with pride.
If it was something he couldn't perceive or understand himself, it couldn't be displayed. Even for a single jutsu, it was hard to express every nuance, even for the creator.
"So cool!" Naruto's eyes filled with adoration.
Hearing the explanation and seeing the data, Kakashi and Yamato felt their own hands begin to itch. Their fingers twitched instinctively, as if they were about to weave signs against their own will.
"Alright, my turn!"
Naruto, buzzing with excitement, quickly wove signs for Shadow Clones. A Rasenshuriken formed in his palm—his second one of the day. To be able to manifest two of these in one session was already a feat.
Tonbo and the others retreated to a safe distance to watch the show. Tonbo was particularly curious to see the difference between a real-life Rasenshuriken and the one from the original story.
Vroom!
As the jutsu took shape, the air turbulence blew away the remaining dust. The group watched without blinking.
"Wind Style: Rasenshuriken!"
Naruto let out a battle cry and slammed the attack into the wall.
BOOM!
Whirrrrrr—!
The moment it hit, a crater several meters deep appeared in a heartbeat. Then, the Rasenshuriken fully detonated its chakra.
Screeeech!
Vroom!
A windstorm even more violent than before erupted. However, it didn't create the massive cloud of dust Tsunade's punch had; instead, it felt eerily quiet at the center. When the effect faded, a breeze carried away fine, misty particles that didn't even look like dust.
A crater dozens of meters wide was left in the Earth Wall. Compared to the massive structure, it looked like a missing front tooth on a giant.
Urgh!
A muffled groan escaped Naruto's lips. He quickly looked at the rock screen. The text had updated:
Wind Style
Chakra Control Requirement: Extreme.Form Transformation: Absolute.Nature Transformation: Wind.Description: A high-density chakra aggregate. By infusing the Wind attribute, it gains the ability to destroy cellular particles.Evaluation: An attack capable of decomposing dust into even smaller particles.
"An attack that decomposes dust into smaller particles? What does that mean?" Naruto asked, looking utterly confused. The concept of particles smaller than dust was beyond his knowledge.
"You idiot, it means things like human cells. This move can penetrate the enemy's body and destroy them from the inside," Tsunade explained, exasperated.
She grabbed Naruto's hand and quickly began examining it with medical chakra. "Just as I thought..."
"What's wrong?" Kakashi asked. He had sensed a problem earlier, and his fears were now confirmed.
"From this moment on, Naruto's new technique is classified as an S-rank Forbidden Jutsu. It is not to be used unless absolutely necessary," Tsunade said sternly, though she didn't stop her healing treatment.
"Eh? Why?!" Naruto protested.
"Because this move will cause your hand to undergo cellular death. Eventually, you won't even be able to wipe your own butt. When I say don't use it, don't use it. No more talk!" Tsunade snapped.
"Fine..." Naruto sighed, dejected. It was an S-rank forbidden jutsu, after all.
He then looked at the other three. "Kakashi-sensei, Captain Yamato, Uncle Tonbo—you guys should try it too! Look, my crater is bigger and deeper than Granny Tsunade's!"
Naruto grinned proudly. Even if he didn't fully grasp the data, he knew his "dent" was bigger than the Hokage's.
As the words left his mouth, Yamato and Kakashi, whose hands had been twitching with anticipation, finally stepped forward.
