Chapter 318: An Endless Stream of Bug-Level Skills
Coast of the Land of Frost.
"What on earth is happening?"
A group of Land of Frost shinobi stared at the environment before them in utter shock. It looked as if the area had been struck by the forbidden jutsu of the Tsuchigumo clan—except that was circular, while this was a perfectly straight, carved-out tunnel.
Gulp.
"Should we go take a look?"
"Forget it, forget it. Some ninja probably used a forbidden jutsu without caring for his life. Let's notify the Daimyo and have him hire the Five Great Hidden Villages to investigate. Their lives aren't important, but ours are."
The ninjas present couldn't help but discuss the situation. The Land of Frost was a small nation; judging by the destructive force shown in the environment, they knew their country had no shinobi capable of dealing with such power. Even if they used their "bottom-of-the-box" forbidden jutsu, they wouldn't necessarily win.
Hiring a hidden village to investigate seemed like a much better method to them. For a moment, no one dared to go and watch the commotion. However, they could see through their telescopes that a monumental battle seemed to be occurring on the distant sea. Huge pillars of water could be seen erupting into the sky from time to time.
Bang!
Urashiki threw a black box at his feet, and white smoke rapidly billowed out from it. The speed of expansion was incredibly fast. In a third of a second, it had spread over a hundred meters.
Tonbo Tobitake, who was still weaving signs, was enveloped by the smoke.
"This is..."
Before the thought could even fully form, his thinking stalled, including the "HeartSteel" within his body. Urashiki's eyes had already transformed into blue Rinnegan.
He slowly walked up to Tonbo, a smirk on his face. "To think you already had this level of strength at this time. It seems you hid yourself very deeply during the Ninja War. This punch is for my own revenge."
Thwack!
Urashiki punched Tonbo square in the face.
"And this punch is for that kick you just gave me."
Thwack!
Another punch. Then, the red fishing line hooked into Tonbo Tobitake.
Hm?
He discovered that the Tonbo before him didn't allow his chakra to be hooked.
"Genjutsu?" Urashiki punched Tonbo in the face again, confirming there was a physical sensation.
He recalled the legends of Tonbo Tobitake in the ninja world. The true master of Genjutsu, the most outstanding of them all.
"Of course it's Genjutsu. It seems my future fame isn't very believable!"
Tonbo appeared behind Urashiki, and Naruto's trademark—the Rasenshuriken—flew from his hand.
The blue Rinnegan... its ability is to release that black box which can freeze time, but it loses the Byakugan's ability to perceive chakra.
Through bit-by-bit testing, Tonbo finally figured out some of Otsutsuki Urashiki's abilities. In the Byakugan state, the opponent possessed a visual power more pure than Neji or Hinata's. Even the Genjutsu he had previously developed to bypass the Byakugan failed before these eyes.
However, this blue Rinnegan could release that white mist from the black box. Based on the feedback from his shadow clone, it was an ability that could stop time for a considerable duration. Because none of his defensive ninjutsu had activated. After the shadow clone dispersed, it felt as though time had simply paused. Considering it was a blue Rinnegan, any mechanical skill was possible.
"But switching to the Rinnegan means losing the Byakugan's ability to see through Genjutsu."
His mind raced, analyzing the information discovered during the fight. His Rasenshuriken was about to hit Urashiki. Right then, he sensed the opponent's chakra change.
"How is that possible?"
Tonbo watched with wide eyes as Otsutsuki Urashiki, despite being under Genjutsu, tilted his body to avoid the Rasenshuriken. This strike shouldn't have failed. It was Senjutsu, incredibly fast, and assisted by Genjutsu. How could it miss?
He frowned, pondering all possibilities.
Whoosh! Swish!
At that moment, Urashiki swung his fishing rod, releasing a technique similar to the Multi-Shuriken Shadow Clone Jutsu. Countless fishing lines pierced toward him, sealing off every possible path of escape.
Instant Release.
Tonbo's body erupted with black light; his Phantom Taijutsu exploded into action. He evaded the attack and appeared above Urashiki, his hands weaving signs with blinding speed. Finally, he pointed one finger to the sky and one to the earth.
From the sea surface below, countless white strips erupted. They were the bandages from his younger years, but after generations of iteration, the sealing jutsu within them was far stronger.
"Unlimited Void."
With a point of his finger, an infinite light erupted from the bandages. The speed made Urashiki's expression turn ugly. His entire being began to turn into red origami cranes, seemingly trying to relocate through some specific method. But he was too slow. Just as the cranes formed, Tonbo's seal arrived.
A torrent of information flooded into Urashiki's mind, forcing him out of his Body Flicker state.
"Damn you, Tonbo Tobitake!"
Tonbo looked down at Urashiki, who was reeling from the information overload of the "Unlimited Void," and finally breathed a sigh of relief. He had only used this move once; the opponent shouldn't have been able to gather intel on it, even in the future. This Otsutsuki clan truly was the source of ocular legends; their abilities were so bizarre and powerful.
Not only the Byakugan, but also the blue Rinnegan. And the abilities were time-related. Fortunately, by switching to the blue Rinnegan, the opponent had to rely on their understanding of Genjutsu to break it, rather than the Byakugan seeing right through it. Even so, the opponent was a total freak.
Suddenly, Tonbo's body felt out of control. His right hand pointed forward involuntarily.
"What?"
"Die! Amenosubaruboshinomikoto: Gyokkō!"
Fwoosh!
Tonbo watched as a purple orb of light cut him in half at the waist and blasted into the ocean ahead, kicking up waves a hundred feet high. His powerful life force allowed him to watch his own lower half fall toward the sea below. On a reef in the ocean, he could see his shadow linked with Urashiki's.
"I see... so this is what Sasuke mentioned—the ability to steal others' nature transformations?"
At the same time, he saw Urashiki's smug smile.
"Idiot, that was a shadow clone. Big Ball Rasengan!"
Like a falling star, Konohamaru slammed a massive Rasengan into the physically resilient Hell Path puppet, shattering it into broken limbs.
Huff, huff!
Konohamaru looked at the destroyed Hell Path, panting heavily, but a smile broke out on his face.
"Yosh! That's one down."
"Konohamaru, you're amazing!"
Ebisu, who had been providing support throughout, had acted as a powerful mental anchor for Konohamaru. Seeing his student resolve such a terrifying enemy, he rushed up to give a thumbs up. As expected of his student. He truly was Konoha's finest teacher.
"This guy... he's a bit of a counter to us!"
The Tianyu trio looked at the Human Path, looking quite disheveled. Of the three, only Wataru—who specialized in adding nature transformation to ninja tools—had an intact sword. The other two had broken blades.
In the distance, many other broken swords lay scattered. To avoid touching the Human Path, Tianyu and Maki had gone through countless ninja tools. Fortunately, they were wealthy and had come prepared.
