Chapter 388: The Concept of Sealing Future Sight

Finally, the wounds on Tobitake Tonbo's body vanished.

"Heh, to think it only took two years to complete. That's a bit unexpected!" Tonbo mused.

He originally thought it would take eight or ten years, but it was finished in two. He had underestimated the depth of his own knowledge. However, this was also thanks to the information extracted from Kaguya's body and Orochimaru's research results. It was all integrated. As one's knowledge base grows, the same level of comprehension can exert much greater leverage.

"But with no enemies around, I feel quite empty!"

Right now, he wished a powerful enemy would appear before him so he could use this move to leave them utterly bewildered. He glanced up at the sealed Kaguya in the sky and shook his head.

Better not.

He was already slowly analyzing information from her body; there was no need to take risks just for a feeling. Releasing Urashiki Otsutsuki for a fight might work, but then again... no. Their spatial abilities were too broken. He was afraid he wouldn't be able to catch them. Forget it.

"Now for the next stage. Besides continuing to master World Harmonization and its synergy with the Shield of the World, I need to focus on the next ability: Sealing Future Sight."

Tonbo began to contemplate his next move. World Harmonization was complete; beyond mastery, there was nothing left to do. Now came one of the most vital capabilities: the power to block the world's future from being foreseen.

Whether it was the Great Toad Sage, the future Kashin Koji, or someone like Shibai Otsutsuki, they were all capable of precognition. And they were all incredibly ridiculous. The Great Toad Sage could accurately predict portions of the future, while others could foresee infinite branching futures. He needed to lock those down. He couldn't let them see what was coming.

Unfortunately, there was no such ability within Kaguya's memory data. Otherwise, this would be much easier.

"How to circumvent the ability to foresee the future... truly a fascinating subject."

Orochimaru, Kabuto, and Keigo Tobitake fell into deep thought after hearing Tonbo's words. They all knew now that precognition existed in this world. Orochimaru, in particular, was explicitly aware that the Great Toad Sage could see the future. Furthermore, there were individuals born with innate prophetic abilities, though their power was insufficient compared to the Great Toad Sage—they lacked his accuracy.

Orochimaru gave Tonbo a deep, searching look.

Why was he asking this? Was he worried someone would use future sight to influence him? The Otsutsuki? That was the only thing he could think of. He knew the Otsutsuki had arrived in the Shinobi world long ago. Their Rinnegan abilities varied; if one possessed precognition, it wasn't impossible.

But why worry? Currently, the establishment of the Shinobi Alliance had brought a period of brief peace to the world. There were no large-scale wars, only small skirmishes. Compared to the previous state of affairs, it was exceptionally peaceful. With Tonbo's power, combined with Naruto and the others, they should be able to handle any Otsutsuki that descended.

He also knew from Tonbo about the Otsutsuki who traveled through time. That Urashiki Otsutsuki they were studying had come from the future.

"The future."

In other words, was Tonbo worried about a threat from the future? Perhaps he had obtained valid intelligence from the future Sasuke? No, that couldn't be it; if there were a problem, Tonbo's personality would lead him to speak up so everyone could solve it together. It wasn't as if he, Orochimaru, couldn't help.

"This topic is interesting, but without a reference subject, it's difficult to conduct proper experiments," Kabuto replied after careful thought. If there were a future threat, it would threaten the children at his orphanage.

"Dad, this can't even really be a research topic. Every project needs a subject or an objective phenomenon to exist. This is just a concept—it's even more far-fetched than my research into Particle Style-level Kekkei Tota," Keigo complained.

Although he had been asked before how to guard against future sight, he always thought his father was joking. After all, foreseeing the future was too mystical. It was even more ethereal than the previous project of developing Yin Release nature transformation—which his dad had likely nearly finished by now. But they didn't even know what it felt like to foresee the future; how could they guard against it? It was much harder than the Kekkei Tota he was currently developing, where he could at least see the light at the end of the tunnel.

"This must be done. We need to prevent it in advance, otherwise encountering such an enemy will be very troublesome. I can confirm such enemies exist," Tonbo said, unafraid of revealing too much. Right now, he was the strongest person in the Shinobi world.

Orochimaru suggested, "Perhaps we can go to Mount Myoboku and consult the Great Toad Sage. After all, the destiny-related knowledge Jiraiya knew came from him." It was a very sound suggestion.

"That makes sense. But how do we get to Mount Myoboku... let's find Naruto!" Tonbo agreed. The Sage was the only person he knew for sure could see the future; maybe he could offer some advice. Uh... then again, maybe not. If future sight were sealed, wouldn't the Great Toad Sage's ability become useless? This felt difficult.

"While I don't fully grasp your train of thought, we are all grasshoppers on the same rope now. I'll help you think of something," Orochimaru said, licking his lips. This was a challenging topic, and he loved exploring the unknown. It was an unfamiliar field—how interesting.

Kabuto added, "Exactly. If you have other intelligence, try not to keep it bottled up. I haven't discovered anything specific, but I can sense a certain... suppression or pressure within you that is driving you to continuously refine your strength."

Kabuto had noticed it long ago, based on his previous intel on Tonbo and their time spent together lately. He could tell Tonbo had something weighing on his mind, and that worry didn't stem from former rogue ninja like them. Both he and Orochimaru could deduce that much.

Tonbo nodded. He knew that because his main body wasn't constantly at the R&D Department watching them, they had guessed a few things.

"I only know that among the enemy's abilities, there are Shinjutsu that can alter perception, Shinjutsu that reflect killing intent, and Shinjutsu that foresee the future. I've found countermeasures for the first two, but I haven't thought of a suitable way to crack this precognition yet."

Through their research on the Otsutsuki, they already knew that while the Otsutsuki used chakra, they possessed troublesome Shinjutsu. Now, it was time to let others get involved. Kabuto and Orochimaru were, in Tonbo's mind, even more reliable than Kakashi and the rest.
