The car stopped in front of a medium-sized two-storey villa with a massive garden on one side. Arianne alighted and helped the twins remove their seat straps. They were dressed up today: Lily in a white dress with pink and violet printed flowers, Leo in a white shirt and denim pants. Both looked excited to visit their home, which they hadn't seen for weeks.
The twins ran inside. Arianne stood at the main entrance. Franz was nowhere to be seen, but he had already messaged that he was on his way.
She took a moment to look at Alex and Layla's home. Modest compared to the Rochefort estate. Two storeys. A wide garden to one side. Security remained intact—high walls, cameras, guards who still reported for duty. The house had been waiting. For what, she wasn't sure. For the twins to grow up? For someone to decide its fate? Or just waiting because no one had been ready to let it go?
