Sofia tried to close her eyes and search for that memory. But there was nothing. It was like a thick fog was covering her childhood.
"I can't remember anything," Sofia whispered, her voice trembling. "It's just... blank."
Lucas reached out and squeezed her hand gently. "Don't stress yourself, Sofia. Your body has been through enough today. The memory might come back when you are stronger. For now, just rest. I need to check on the pack and make sure the shooters were handled. I'll be back soon."
He stood up, giving her one last lingering look before heading toward the door.
As soon as the door clicked shut, Sofia felt a sharp pull in her chest. It was the mate bond. Suddenly, Damien's voice echoed in her head, loud and frantic.
