Chapter 126: The Composure of the Main Girlfriend

"Mysterious confidence, huh…"

Kaguya Shinomiya quietly repeated Asagiri's words. Her delicate face remained expressionless as she spoke in a faint, controlled tone.

"Perhaps… I misunderstood."

"Hm?"

Asagiri looked genuinely surprised for a second, then let out a chuckle.

"That's not right. Why did you admit it so easily? Why aren't you arguing back? This isn't like you. Where did that stubborn, defiant Shinomiya go?"

Kaguya heard the teasing clearly, but her voice stayed flat.

"Utsunomiya, your personality really is awful."

"Not awful," Asagiri replied casually, as if it were a simple correction. "Anyway, forget the flyer plan. Acting too aloof will only make most students dislike you. It's completely counterproductive."

He tilted his head slightly.

"Instead, think about our biggest advantage."

Kaguya considered it for a moment, then asked cautiously.

"Is it… the alliance between the pure and mixed divisions?"

"Not at all."

Asagiri shook his head lightly.

"The current Student Council President and Vice President are both from the pure division, and even they still have mixed division members in the Council. That's not our edge."

He raised a finger, voice calm and confident.

"Our real advantage is that both you and I were in sports clubs during middle school, and we both won national championships."

Kaguya's eyes narrowed with interest.

"I've already checked," Asagiri continued. "The current Student Council President and Vice President don't have anything like that."

He spoke with the ease of someone laying down pieces on a board.

"Because we came from sports clubs, we can understand their needs and frustrations better. Or at least, we can make them feel that we understand them."

"Among all clubs and activity groups at Shuchiin Academy, sports clubs have the most members. More importantly, sports club students tend to be upbeat, outgoing, and well connected."

Asagiri's mouth curved slightly.

"If we win their support, they'll naturally talk to other students and spread that support. Some of them might even campaign for us without being asked. That's far more effective than you personally walking around and handing out flyers."

Kaguya's gaze turned thoughtful, but she didn't accept it immediately.

"It's true the sports clubs' support is valuable," she said. "But relying on middle school achievements alone won't be enough."

"Achievements are just the finishing touch," Asagiri replied with a relaxed smile.

"At the very least, you need to make them believe that after you become Student Council President, they'll get benefits equal to what they have now. With our track records as a bonus, the scale will tip our way."

His tone sharpened slightly, more decisive.

"Of course, the safest approach is to make them believe the new Student Council will be better than the current one."

"So it's an exchange of interests," Kaguya said quietly.

"Exactly. An exchange of interests."

Asagiri nodded, then met her eyes directly.

"I don't know what you're thinking deep down. But since I've decided to cooperate with you in this election, we're winning."

His voice lowered, firm as steel.

"This isn't a multiple choice question. Failure isn't an option."

Kaguya didn't flinch. She stared back, word by word.

"Rest assured. I refuse to be a loser."

"Woohoo!"

Fujiwara Chika clapped her hands, beaming with bright energy.

"Then we're totally in sync, right? Utsunomiya, Asuna, Kaguya, and me. The four of us are officially an election alliance! Congratulations, congratulations!"

"Huh?"

Yuuki Asuna hesitated when Chika called her name.

"Me too? But I'm not even holding a position in the Student Council…"

"It's fine, just come hang out with us," Fujiwara said, smiling like an angel. It was the kind of smile most people found impossible to refuse.

"If you want to join the Student Council, just tell us, okay? Or you can do what Utsunomiya's doing and take a position in name only."

"This…"

Asuna looked conflicted, then asked carefully.

"I've been wondering. Is it really okay for someone to hold a position as important as Vice President in name only? And can the Student Council President directly appoint the Vice President? Isn't that…"

"Too much authority?"

Kaguya cut in smoothly, answering before Asuna could finish.

"Yes. That's the biggest difference between Shuchiin Academy's Student Council and those at ordinary schools."

Her tone was even, almost clinical.

"There are no elections for secretary, vice president, treasurer, and so on. There is only an election for Student Council President. Whoever becomes President can invite anyone into any role, without needing approval or the school's consent."

Kaguya didn't say the next part out loud.

That was precisely why she wanted the position. With such unrestricted authority, reporting to the school only for a handful of major events, the President could run the Council almost like a private domain.

"This…"

Asuna met Fujiwara's expectant gaze and found it hard to refuse outright.

"It's okay. Just think about it for now," Fujiwara said, sensing her hesitation and easing off with a cheerful smile.

"Let's talk after school, okay? Kaguya and I are going to eat our bentos first. We'll meet up and continue after class."

"Okay."

"Okay! See you after school!"

Fujiwara and Kaguya turned and left together.

Once they were gone, Asagiri swept his eyes around the area, confirming no one else was nearby. Only then did he step closer to Asuna, lowering his voice with a faint grin.

"Are you really comfortable letting me be alone with Fujiwara Chika and Kaguya Shinomiya during the campaign?"

"Huh? Oh, right."

Asuna's expression tightened as she realized what he meant.

"They're Players too. If they attacked you when you weren't prepared, you'd be stuck fighting one against two."

Asagiri went silent for a beat.

Then he said calmly, "That's not what I meant."

Asuna blinked. "Then what did you mean?"

Asagiri's grin returned, sharper and more shameless.

"Kaguya Shinomiya and Fujiwara Chika are both really cute. Aren't you jealous?"

"Jealous?"

Asuna's lips curved into a gentle smile. She took his hand, fingers naturally weaving into his, and spoke softly.

"How could I not trust my boyfriend? Besides, if you really had feelings for them, with your personality, you would've told me straight to my face by now."

"That's true," Asagiri admitted, sounding oddly satisfied.

Then his expression shifted, and the teasing faded.

"But after that conversation, I realized something."

"What?"

"Fujiwara Chika is more dangerous than Kaguya Shinomiya."

"…Chika is dangerous?"

Asuna looked genuinely puzzled. To her, Fujiwara Chika was always bright, sweet, and airheaded, the last person she would describe with that word.

"Don't forget Fujiwara Chika's background," Asagiri said quietly.

"She's the great granddaughter of a former Prime Minister of Japan. Her uncle is a minister. Her mother is a diplomat."

He spoke as if he were listing facts from a dossier.

"She's a young lady from an elite political family. Kaguya's upbringing explains why her plan was absurd, but could Fujiwara really not see the flaws?"

Asuna's brows knit together.

"And think about it," Asagiri continued. "Between the two, Fujiwara is the one raised around diplomacy and political maneuvering. She should be the one building strategies."

His gaze sharpened.

"But she didn't make a plan. She clearly noticed Kaguya's plan was flawed, and she didn't warn her."

He paused.

"Why?"

Asuna frowned and shook her head slowly.

"I don't know."

"Hm. Neither do I."

Asagiri's voice stayed light, but his eyes weren't.

"Fujiwara Chika isn't as simple as she looks. She's not just an airhead with a pretty smile."

He squeezed Asuna's hand gently.

"That's why she's dangerous. She's someone we should stay wary of."

After school that day, outside the first year teaching building.

"Let's talk."

Kaguya Shinomiya faced Asagiri and spoke in her usual flat, composed tone.

"How do we secure the sports clubs' support?"

"It's simple."

Asagiri's smile was faint. His eyes flicked toward Fujiwara Chika standing beside Kaguya.

"Fujiwara handles negotiations. Tell the sports clubs that once you become Student Council President, you'll increase their activity funds, replace their protective gear, and repair their facilities."

He spoke like he'd rehearsed it.

"That's courtesy first."

He lifted a finger again.

"After that, if they still don't agree, we do it the straightforward way."

Asagiri's gaze was steady, confident.

"Propose a fair match between one of us and the strongest member of their club."

"Shuchiin's sports clubs have strong records and win major competitions. Their students are proud, and Shuchiin students are more arrogant than those from ordinary schools."

His smile deepened slightly.

"If you want their respect, the simplest method is to defeat their best player right in front of them."
