Slowly Dominic unclenched the fist he had curled tightly at his side in an effort to control the storm of rage threatening to consume him.
The veins along the back of his hand stood out sharply before gradually settling, yet the furious pounding in his chest refused to ease.
His breathing remained uneven, and the muscles in his jaw twitched visibly as anger continued to churn violently inside him.
"Van…e…ssa," he muttered under his breath while gritting his teeth so hard that his jaw ached painfully. "Never thought that the very day you waltzed your way into the Whyte family…you would eventually turn everything upside down."
The words came out cold and bitter, soaked heavily with resentment that had built over many years.
The memories of the first encounters he had shared with Vanessa before she officially became part of the Whyte family remained painfully vivid in Dominic's mind, as though those moments had happened only yesterday.
