Konoha, Hokage's Office.

After giving Hiruzen Sarutobi a detailed report on the situation along the eastern front, Tsunade and Jiraiya's official debriefing finally came to an end.

Only then did the three former teammates begin catching up on the past few years. Taiichi and Shizune could only stand quietly to the side like background decorations, listening to their elders chat.

"Tsunade, now that you're back, what are your plans?"

The conversation naturally drifted back to work.

"Plans? I haven't thought about it. I just want to rest properly and check out the new casino that opened in Konoha."

Taiichi immediately covered his face with one hand. A flock of imaginary crows flew over his head.

Shizune instinctively reached for her wallet, where the last of their living expenses were stored.

Even Hiruzen felt a headache coming on. He was already wondering whether Tsunade had racked up too much debt outside and had no choice but to return to Konoha to hide.

Still, the fact that she had come back at all was a huge blessing for the village.

Ignoring her complaints about not wanting to work, Hiruzen got straight to assigning her new duties.

"You'll go to Konoha Hospital and take over as director. While you're at it, help me train more medical-nin.

This war proved that without Taiichi, Konoha's medical capacity would have been cut in half or worse. It also exposed how lacking our medical-nin still are. That's where I need you to focus."

That much was true. Taiichi's medical abilities alone were worth several full medical teams. More importantly, his skill at treating critically injured patients far exceeded what ordinary medical-nin could achieve.

"Konoha Hospital?" Tsunade frowned. "Isn't Biwako still the director? You want me to take her place?"

Hiruzen chuckled and waved his hand dismissively.

"Even the Hokage can step down. Why not the hospital director? Biwako already told me a long time ago that she couldn't keep going. She only stayed in the position because we hadn't found a suitable replacement."

"Now that you're back, the director's seat naturally belongs to the most qualified person."

Tsunade lowered her eyes, lost in thought for a moment. She frowned, then glanced back at Taiichi. The look she gave him made the back of his neck prickle.

"Fine."

Tsunade looked up and accepted Hiruzen's appointment. Then she pointed straight at Taiichi and made her demand without hesitation.

"But I want him to help me."

Hiruzen laughed and nodded immediately.

"No problem. You'll have full authority over all appointments at the hospital. As long as you're willing to take the position."

The old man had basically sold Taiichi out on the spot just to keep Tsunade happy.

He turned to Taiichi and gave the order directly.

"Taiichi, go handle the paperwork today. Your ANBU assignment ends effective immediately. From now on, you'll follow Tsunade's arrangements."

Taiichi was speechless. He had barely done anything in ANBU except stand guard duty, and now it was ending this quickly.

No one cared about his opinion. His future workload had just been decided in a single sentence.

Once Tsunade's matter was settled, Hiruzen turned his attention to Jiraiya.

"What about you? Don't you have anything to say?"

Hiruzen had always felt some guilt toward Tsunade. Toward Jiraiya, however, he showed no such restraint.

"Minato will soon become the Fourth Hokage. As his teacher, you're not planning to just walk away, are you?"

"Ah~ hahaha!" Jiraiya scratched the back of his head, looking embarrassed at being called out.

Tsunade was immediately annoyed. She had come back to work even as an outsider, yet this so-called teacher still wanted to run off?

"Jiraiya!"

She called his name one syllable at a time. Jiraiya shivered violently.

It was said that every creature had its natural enemy. For Jiraiya, that enemy was Tsunade.

"Of course not, of course not. I'll definitely stay and help Minato."

Jiraiya quickly changed his tune, terrified that hesitating even a second longer would earn him a beating.

"Good. Once Minato officially takes office, you'll serve as one of his advisors and help keep an eye on things," Hiruzen said, striking while the iron was hot and locking the arrangement in place.

"Then—" Jiraiya glanced at Tsunade. The moment he saw her murderous glare, he wilted. "Alright, fine."

With everything settled, the atmosphere in the office became warm and relaxed again.

The door to the Hokage's office closed gently behind them. The afternoon breeze of Konoha carried the scent of everyday life as it brushed against their faces.

Tsunade looked at the golden sunset on the horizon and felt a brief moment of disorientation. Four years.

"Let's go, Sensei."

Taiichi's voice sounded beside her, carrying obvious happiness. "I've already cleaned up the house."

Tsunade didn't speak. She simply nodded in silence.

They walked through familiar streets. The closer they got to that place filled with memories, the heavier her steps became.

When the familiar gate finally came into view, her breathing hitched slightly. The doorframe was the same as before, but the metal ring had been polished until it shone, reflecting the last light of the day.

The moment she pushed open the door, a wave of familiarity washed over her.

The courtyard had been meticulously maintained. The stone tiles were spotless, and the wind chimes under the corridor rang softly in the breeze.

What truly shocked her, however, were the figures lined up and bowing in perfect unison beneath the corridor.

"Welcome home, Tsunade-sama!"

Twenty-two voices spoke in perfect harmony, clearly the result of prior rehearsal.

At the front stood Mizuki. She raised her head with a gentle yet respectful smile.

"You must be tired from your journey. Hot water and a meal have already been prepared."

Behind her were the young faces Tsunade vaguely recognized—the former Mist medical-nin that Taiichi had "recruited" on the eastern front.

Life really was full of strange twists. Now they were all living together in the same house.

"Hmph. You little brat." Tsunade shot Taiichi a complicated look. "You've actually managed to make something of this place."

She stepped onto the polished wooden corridor, her fingertips brushing against the familiar doorframe. For a moment, it felt like she had stepped back in time.

"Wow—"

A loud, exaggerated exclamation shattered the delicate atmosphere.

Jiraiya's eyes were practically sparkling as his gaze darted around the courtyard, following the young women moving about their tasks.

"This is incredible, Taiichi! A golden house hiding beauties—and more than twenty of them? Kid, you've really learned from me—"

Thud!

Before he could finish, Tsunade's fist came crashing down on his head with a gust of wind.

Jiraiya yelped and dropped into a squat, clutching his head. A bright red lump instantly swelled on his forehead.

"Keep your wandering eyes in check, you idiot!"

Tsunade pulled her fist back and scolded him angrily.

"If you say one more stupid thing, I'll throw you out right now!"

Taiichi held back a laugh and quickly tried to smooth things over.

"Jiraiya-sensei, your own house probably isn't ready yet, and it's already late. I've prepared a guest room for you. Why don't you stay here tonight? This way, please."

He led the grimacing Jiraiya and the quietly giggling Shizune deeper into the house. Mizuki immediately stepped forward to guide them.

Tsunade stood alone at the entrance for a moment.

The last rays of sunset filtered through the lattice windows, casting long patches of light across the freshly polished floor. The air carried the faint fragrance of summer flowers mixed with the warm scent of food drifting from the kitchen.

She took a deep breath. A long-forgotten sense of home and relaxation quietly spread through her limbs.

She had barely sat down in the main house and taken a sip of hot tea when a lively commotion of footsteps and cheerful children's voices approached from a distance, sweeping into the courtyard like a gust of wind.

"Taiichi-sensei! We're back!"

Three small figures charged across the corridor like cannonballs. It was Yami, Kota, and Uchiha Itachi following behind them.

Yami's pigtails were slightly messy from running. Kota's schoolbag strap hung crookedly off his shoulder. Even Itachi's face carried more of a child's lively energy than usual.

The three of them skidded to a halt the moment they entered the house and realized there were guests present.

"You're… Aunt Tsunade!"

Yami had met Tsunade before, but it had been so long that her memory was fuzzy. She only vaguely remembered that Taiichi had once taken her to the orphanage.

Tsunade raised an eyebrow. Before she could speak, Taiichi lightly flicked Yami's forehead with his finger.

"It's Tsunade-sama."

He turned to Tsunade and introduced them.

"Sensei, these are Yami and Kota. They're children from the orphanage. You've met them before."

Tsunade nodded and looked at Yami, correcting her without any politeness.

"Brat, I'm not your aunt. Call me big sister."

Taiichi and everyone else present felt a collective wave of exasperation.

Women really were sensitive about their age.

Before Tsunade could say anything else shocking, Taiichi quickly changed the subject.

"Sensei, this is Uchiha Itachi. My student."

Itachi stepped forward and bowed with perfect posture.

"It's an honor to meet you, Tsunade-sama. My name is Uchiha Itachi."

His black hair fell forward, and beneath his slightly messy bangs, the small Uchiha fan crest on his clothing was clearly visible.

Tsunade's gaze lingered on that striking red-and-white emblem for a brief moment. The fingers holding her teacup tightened almost imperceptibly.

The Uchiha…

Her expression remained calm, but her voice was cool as she gave a slight nod.

"Hm."

"Alright, don't just stand there." Taiichi clapped his hands with a smile. A shadow clone silently appeared beside him. "It's time for your taijutsu practice. Head to the backyard."

"Yes!" the three children answered in unison and were quickly led away by Taiichi's clone, disappearing down the corridor like cheerful little birds.

Yami even turned around and made a playful face at Tsunade before leaving.

The courtyard gradually quieted, leaving only the crisp sound of the bamboo water ladle striking the stone basin.

Clack. Clack. Clack.

Tsunade watched the children disappear around the corner of the corridor. Her gaze seemed to pierce through space and settle on the small figure with dark eyes and the Uchiha crest on his back.

"Is that Uchiha Fugaku's son?"

She lifted her teacup, her voice unreadable, but her eyes were sharp as she turned to Taiichi.

"You just took him in like that? Aren't you worried about what people will say? Or that the Uchiha might cause trouble for you?"

The long-standing grudge between the Senju and Uchiha clans still affected her. The fact that she could treat the Uchiha with a normal attitude during missions already showed considerable open-mindedness.

As for building a good relationship with them—let alone taking one as a student—that was something she had never even considered.

Taiichi sat down across from her. His expression had lost its usual youthful liveliness.

"Sensei, when a thorn is stuck in your flesh, you have to deal with it eventually. You can't just ignore it because it doesn't hurt right now.

The Uchiha problem is the same."

His fingertip unconsciously traced the rim of his cup.

"Itachi's talent and character are both exceptional. Rather than letting him be shaped entirely within the Uchiha clan and eventually head toward some unknown extreme, it's better to let him stand in a wider world and see the full picture of Konoha."

He paused, remembering the blood-stained tragedy from the original timeline.

"Besides, the current leaders of the Uchiha are hoping to integrate into Konoha. This is a rare opportunity."

Dusk had fallen. Warm lights quietly lit up beneath the corridor, stretching their shadows long across the ground.

From the backyard came the steady voice of Taiichi's shadow clone giving instructions, mixed with the children's energetic shouts. The sounds were full of life and vitality.

Tsunade remained silent for a long time.

The wariness of Senju Tobirama toward the Uchiha still echoed in her ears. The heavy caution in her clan elders' voices whenever they spoke of the Uchiha was still vivid in her memory.

Yet the disciple she had personally raised was now naturally holding the hand of a Uchiha child and pulling him under his wing.

After a long while, a very soft sigh escaped her lips.

"A child of the Senju… taking a student from the Uchiha…" Tsunade shook her head. The corner of her mouth curved into a complicated smile—part self-mockery, part resignation. "The world really has changed."

That evening, Tsunade, Jiraiya, Shizune, along with Kota, Yami, Itachi, and Taiichi as the host, enjoyed a lively welcome-home feast.

Of course, the food included dishes personally cooked by Taiichi (or rather, his shadow clone).

The long-missed delicious food made Jiraiya exclaim in delight. It was the first time in four years he had eaten Taiichi's cooking again.

Everyone ate, drank, and chatted until the moon was high. Only then did the banquet finally end. They each returned to their rooms to rest and prepare for the new day ahead.

The director's office at Konoha Hospital smelled faintly of disinfectant. Tsunade was slumped in her chair, her golden hair looking somewhat dull under the lamplight.

She was absentmindedly poking at the documents on her desk with a pen, her eyes unfocused as she stared into space.

"Is this even human work?!"

Tsunade kicked her feet against the edge of the desk, sending her chair sliding backward with the recoil.

"Even on the battlefield there weren't this many—documents to deal with!"

"Sensei, you haven't finished the previous ones yet?"

Taiichi's voice came from the doorway. In his hands was yet another stack of new documents.

Tsunade shot him a resentful glare. Her golden hair seemed to grow even duller.

"Why are there still more? Does running a hospital involve more work than fighting a war?"

Taiichi placed the new files on her desk according to priority and rolled his eyes at her complaint.

"If you hadn't snuck off to the casino to play earlier, these would probably already be done."

"Besides, this is just the initial handover. There are more things that need confirmation right now. It'll get much better later."

Tsunade's face turned slightly red at being caught red-handed by her own student. It was a little embarrassing.

Before she could get angry, Taiichi pointed at one of the stacks and offered her a sweet reward.

"These have already been double-checked by me. All you need to do is sign them. Of course, it would be best if you could at least glance through them and have a general idea."

Sure enough, the moment Tsunade heard that, she grabbed her pen and quickly signed her name across the signature lines with bold strokes.

Reading them? Impossible. Hadn't she already read enough earlier?

Taiichi didn't know whether to laugh or cry at her complete trust in him. Still, whatever needed to be done, he would do it.

"Once these are signed, the entire handover will be complete. But I'm not sure what plans you have for training new medical-nin going forward, Sensei."

The joy Tsunade had felt upon hearing that only these documents remained to sign had barely surfaced before Taiichi's next words poured cold water over her.

Training medical-nin?

She vaguely remembered the old man mentioning it back in the Hokage's office, but she hadn't paid any attention to it at the time. Where was she supposed to find a plan now?
