"Excuse me, Miss Su Yan, may I go use the toilet?" I pulled the biggest puppy eyes I could muster at our homeroom teacher, hoping she wouldn't remember that I had just gone out to use the toilet only ten minutes ago.
She was teaching Science.
I hated Science.
"Of course Long. Here's your pass." Her smile mirrored mine as she pulled out the colorful tag from her desk drawer and handed it to me.
After my mental victory dance, I nodded to her politely, rushing out of the door, but not before I turned to stick my tongue out at Lang and Ruiqing who had refused to skip class with me.
It was something we always did together since first grade, but after his father got shot about a month ago, Lang had stopped being fun.
He never wanted to play with me anymore, and Ruiqing always picked his side. Baba and Mama said to give him time and that Lang was in pain.
