Ace sat back, a white bandage being pressed against his neck by the Commissioner, but his eyes never left the spot on the floor where the tracker had been crushed.
"He didn't just track us, Violet," Ace growled, the pain in his neck fueled by a much deeper burn in his chest. "Because of this little toy, we lost the shipping routes. We lost the Amitex contract. We lost millions. My businesses are hemorrhaging, and it's all because of that pathetic, self-righteous bastard."
Violet walked over, her shadow falling over him. She reached out, her fingers stained slightly with the blood from his extraction, and tilted his chin up.
"Money can be remade, Ace," she whispered, her voice a low, terrifying promise. "But a message needs to be sent. Max thinks he's playing a game of chess. He doesn't realize we've already flipped the board. Once we are out of these walls, we aren't just going after his business. We're going after his heart."
