Max ran a hand through his hair, smoothing it back with meticulous care as he slipped into his sharpest suit, the fabric a second skin of control.
"I need you to call the lawyers," he said, voice calm but clipped, eyes flicking toward Ruby. "The judge who issued the warrant? Bought by Violet, of course. Chris' advice: I give myself up to the police, and he'll handle the rest."
Ruby is still in the bedroom, swallowing the worry curling in her chest. "Does she know?" Samuel asked quietly, concern edging his tone.
"She doesn't need to know the details," Max replied. "Tell the guards to stay alert. " He stepped closer, voice low, commanding.
"Make sure she does go out," As they step outside, Ruby watches from the window, she force herself to steady her breathing, pressing her hands lightly against the glass as Max's car glided from the estate, leaving her with a fragile, tense quiet.
