The tension snapped violently. One second, Ace was holding the gun. The next. Max moved. Fast. Far too fast for a drunk, exhausted man.
He lunged forward with brutal force, grabbing Ace's wrist and twisting hard. Ace shouted in shock as the two men slammed into each other, struggling wildly for control of the weapon.
Bang! The gun exploded. Samuel ducked instinctively. Birds scattered from the trees as the bullet ripped harmlessly into the morning sky.
Ace grunted as Max drove his shoulder into him, both men stumbling across the gravel driveway. The handgun shook violently between them as they wrestled for control.
"Drop it!" one of the guards screamed. But before anyone else could move. Sirens. Loud. Close. Police vehicles came tearing through the estate gates at full speed. Everything happened at once.
