Chapter 228 - Chapter 229: Nick Fury

"Susan, please invite Director Fury over."

After Aquaman left, Adam asked Susan to find Nick Fury.

Since the Sentinel Robot technology hadn't leaked, he didn't want to waste time hunting down HYDRA Agents one by one; it would be better to hand it over to the tool-man, Nick Fury.

Of course, there would be conditions.

"Director Fury, I'm actually very clear about your purpose in having Black Captain Marvel and the others attend this World's Greatest Ability User Tournament."

As soon as Nick Fury sat down, Adam's words made him break out in a cold sweat. Fortunately, the next sentence allowed him to breathe a slight sigh of relief.

"However, I don't mind at all, because I presume you already have the answer in your heart."

"Mr. Adam, rest assured, S.H.I.E.L.D. will never be your enemy again!"

Nick Fury didn't offer any explanations, stating his position with firm resolve.

Explanations were useless. Having dealt with Adam for so long, he knew Adam was the kind of person who, once he had determined an answer, wouldn't believe any explanations.

So, what needed to be done now was to state his position and not become an enemy of Adam.

Moreover, this Sentinel Robot incident had truly made him realize that his own capabilities were limited. If a major crisis threatening the entire Earth were to occur, he could do absolutely nothing.

In the end, it would still depend on Adam to turn the tide.

Just as his wife, Black Captain Marvel, had said, if things continued this way, one day Adam would be pushed to the opposing side, and then all of humanity would be finished.

"That's truly rare."

Adam, who had been using Legilimency on Nick Fury, was slightly surprised to find that what Nick Fury said wasn't just polite talk, but that he had genuinely decided not to harbor any more intentions against him and his League of Heroes.

He hadn't expected that Nick Fury, a man with such strong control issues, would have a day of realization.

However, recalling the movies, in the later stages, Nick Fury indeed rarely interfered with the Superheroes' decisions, only offering some auxiliary help. The leaders of the Avengers had always been Captain America and Iron Man.

Especially after the trauma of Thanos's snap, he developed a psychological shadow and recuperated in a Base in outer space.

So, it still came down to this: some thoughts might arise when someone is stronger than you, but when he is already unimaginably strong, even reaching the gap between man and god, those thoughts naturally vanish.

Nick Fury always felt he could control the overall situation, wanting to monitor and control all potential dangers, wanting to lead everything, believing that Earth could only be safe under his protection.

But HYDRA's blow to S.H.I.E.L.D. and Thanos's ultimate power completely sobered him up.

This World was also like this; the Sentinel incident and Adam's power made him realize these things more than a decade earlier.

"Alright, I believe you. Here is the information I just extracted from Pierce, regarding most of the HYDRA Bases and HYDRA Agents still in hiding.

Next, I will have all the Superheroes of the League of Heroes cooperate with you to destroy these Bases."

Adam suddenly reached out and placed his hand on Nick Fury's head, transmitting Pierce's relevant memories to him.

"However, I'll need all those HYDRA scientists brought to me afterwards. I want them to help research gravity technology."

"Absolutely no problem!"

After receiving the memories, Nick Fury's single eye immediately lit up, and he nodded without hesitation.

It was easy to imagine that the Sentinel incident orchestrated by HYDRA, after being broadcast globally, would inevitably ignite the anger of people worldwide.

Leaders of various countries, for the stability of their nations, would also exert pressure on him to root out all HYDRA Agents to appease their citizens.

He was worried about how to achieve results afterwards, as most of the HYDRA Agents that could be found had already been captured. Those not yet found were truly deeply hidden and couldn't be located in a short time.

Especially that old fox, Pierce.

The intelligence Adam gave him successfully solved this problem, so he had no reason to refuse.

What he hadn't expected was that in such a short time, Adam had already found Pierce, the mastermind behind this Sentinel Robot incident, and obtained so much intelligence.

He estimated that the former Director, his mentor, whom he had been battling until now, had already died at Adam's hands.

Truly, you can provoke anyone, but not Adam!

"Oh, and a heads-up.

I know you have something called the Tesseract, and you've been studying it, trying to harness its power.

But I advise you to stop doing that, because it might attract a lot of big trouble."

Before Nick Fury left, Adam casually reminded him.

According to the main Universe's development, it would be another four or five years before the Tesseract would open a spatial portal, allowing Thanos's Chitauri army to invade Earth.

But this wasn't the main Universe after all, and because of his appearance, many things had already gone off track.

To be safe, he thought it better to remind Nick Fury in advance.

If Thanos's army were truly summoned, he wasn't afraid now, but Earth would inevitably suffer significant casualties, which was unnecessary.

Waiting a few more years, his strength would grow even greater, and defeating Thanos and his Universe army with overwhelming power would be the best strategy.

He never liked fighting evenly matched enemies, because it was too risky; not only his own life would be in danger, but also the lives of his relatives and friends.

Sacrificing several teammates before breaking through and defeating the enemy—that wasn't his style.

He preferred to Training silently, and only after confirming his strength completely overwhelmed the enemy would he engage in battle, ensuring a 100% complete victory without any of his close ones getting hurt.

As for why he didn't go to S.H.I.E.L.D. to seize the Tesseract for himself?

Firstly, he felt that the six Infinity Stones were indeed powerful, but they were ultimately external forces. Spending time and energy on external forces would only halt his own progress.

Secondly, even if he obtained the Infinity Stones, he wouldn't know how to use them.

The Infinity Stones weren't something anyone could use just by getting their hands on them. Many people in the Universe had obtained Infinity Stones, but very few knew how to use them or could control them.

Many were sealed away with special items and preserved.

Instead of spending time researching how to use the power of the Infinity Stones, it was better to spend that time Training more.

Thirdly, and finally.

The Infinity Stones were the six crystals of power, embodying the fundamental laws of the Universe, born during the Big Bang. Their existence was watched by many ancient gods and Dimensional Demon Godss.

Whoever obtained an Infinity Stone would enter the sight of these ancient gods and Dimensional Demon Godss.

His current strength was certainly good, but he didn't want to attract the attention of those powerful ancient gods and Dimensional Demon Godss yet.
