Chapter 289 - Do You Know How to Raise Kids?

Focalors noticed the trace of embarrassment that flashed across Lora's face after Furina finished speaking and could not help laughing.

"So even you get embarrassed!"

Lora: "..."

So no more kisses? Was that it?

Seeing her at a loss made Xianyun feel much better. She quietly asked, "Hey, I have a question. You have to answer honestly. No lies."

"At this point, aren't we basically family? Would I lie to you?" Lora looked straight at her with an expression that said she had never lied once in her life.

Xianyun fell silent, her face plainly saying, Do you think I believe you?

Reading that expression, Lora could only lament how little credibility she had with these people.

But causing trouble really was fun.

After staring at her for a while, Xianyun finally asked, "I know you came to Liyue this time for Lantern Rite. Tell me the truth. During the festival, you aren't going to mess with us, are you?"

Lora immediately shook her head. "No! Of course not. You have to believe me. My children are here! I need to set a good example for them!"

Hearing this, Furina muttered, "But earlier, you still..."

"Ahem!" Lora glared at her. "No interrupting!"

"Hmph..." Furina clicked her tongue.

Xianyun watched the three of them for a moment before suddenly saying, "Well, if you truly have no experience raising children, I can help. I raised both Ganyu and Shenhe myself. I have plenty of experience."

"Since when are you this generous?" Lora frowned, clearly suspicious.

"Of course I'm not being generous for free." Xianyun was very straightforward. She leaned in slightly, smiling. "If I help you, then this year's Lantern Rite..."

"Oh! So that's your angle!" Lora suddenly understood and laughed as she clapped her hands.

"If that won't do, I can gather the others and drag Jiehu and Houzhang here too. How about that? Oh, and Ping. She has never attended a single Lantern Rite! That simply won't do. I think she has to come this time."

"Well, well. I didn't expect this from you. You're surprisingly honest."

Xianyun laughed too. "So? Will you consider it?"

"I think I'm perfectly capable of taking care of children!" Lora said seriously.

Instead of answering her, Xianyun looked at Furina. "What do you think?"

"I think Lora really doesn't know how to take care of children!" Furina answered with perfect seriousness.

Lora: "..."

Xianyun smiled. "Well?"

Lora looked at her and fell silent. After a short pause, she finally said, "I don't think my children need you to raise them. However, if you can trick Ping into coming, I can consider letting you off."

"No problem. Leave it to me!"

"Don't forget that deer and that bird either," Lora added.

"Of course." Xianyun nodded calmly. "If trouble is coming, then naturally, everyone should face it together."

Lora corrected her, "No. That's not everyone facing it together. That's you dragging your friends down with you."

"Same difference," Xianyun said, seeing no problem with it.

Thousands of years had passed. If they did not find some fun for themselves, life really would get boring.

While they were chatting, two people approached from nearby. They looked like a grandmother and granddaughter and seemed to be looking for a place to eat.

However, Wanmin Restaurant was already full, with no empty seats left.

Chef Mao could only apologize to them.

Xianyun and Lora both looked over. With Lora's eyesight, she could naturally tell the older woman was not human. Yet for some reason, she could not tell what race she was.

"How strange," Lora muttered.

Xianyun heard her and glanced over. "What's strange?"

"Can't you tell? She isn't human." Lora did not think someone with Xianyun's abilities would fail to see through the other party.

"Of course I know she isn't human."

There was something odd in her tone, and Lora could not help frowning. "Do you know her?"

Xianyun sighed. "I suppose... I do."

Seeing her like this, Lora understood that whatever lay between them was probably something Xianyun regretted. So she directly waved at the grandmother and granddaughter.

"There's space over here. Come sit with us if you don't mind."

Xianyun looked as though she wanted to say something, but in the end, she did not stop her.

Hearing the invitation, the granddaughter smiled and hurriedly pulled her grandmother toward them.

"Grandma, come on! Someone's willing to share a table with us!"

Once they arrived, the granddaughter introduced them. "Hello, I'm Shuyu. This is my grandma, Yuandai."

"Hello, Shuyu, Yuandai." Lora nodded to them and introduced herself as well.

"Grandma?" Furina looked at Yuandai in surprise and whispered, "She looks so young... Do people from Liyue just age that well?"

Focalors replied, "Isn't it a little rude to talk about that in front of her?"

Shuyu overheard their whispers and smiled. "Oh, it's fine. People say that about Grandma all the time. They're always praising her for looking young for her age, but she really is quite old."

There was even a little pride in her tone.

Yuandai stood behind Shuyu, her gaze fixed on Xianyun at the table.

Xianyun, too, had been looking at her the entire time.

Neither of them said a word, but the atmosphere between them was enough for Furina and Focalors to understand something.

Their relationship was probably very complicated.
