Chapter 201 - Chapter 201: Encountering a Car Race

Ferrari, Lamborghini, Brabus, Bentley, Koenigsegg, Mazda…

And all of them were top-of-the-line imported sports cars from their respective brands, each costing tens of millions.

Judging by the setup, this was clearly a car race!

Among them, an Aston Martin V12 Zagato was parked side-by-side, both cars occupied by blue-eyed foreign youths. The Koenigsegg driver, an Agera R, appeared to be around twenty-three or twenty-four years old, with an arrogant and domineering air. One had red hair, and the other had brown hair.

The redhead glanced at the brown-haired man, and through the open car window, let out a disdainful voice: "Frank, I have a feeling I'm destined to win today. I bet you feel the same way."

The brown-haired Frank turned his head slightly, his face also full of disdain. He smiled, a smirk playing on his lips: "Chris, I think your feeling stems from underestimating my V12 Zagato, doesn't it? If I were driving my Aston Martin One-77, I doubt you'd dare say that."

Chris's expression changed: "Hmph, even if you were driving a One-77, I'm confident I could beat you."

"Come on!" Frank waved his hand dismissively, saying calmly, "I've only lost to you once, but you've lost to me four times. What does saying that show besides your overestimation of your abilities?"

Chris's eyes widened, his face alternating between pale and flushed. He said fiercely, "Hey, Frank, don't be so arrogant. I admit, I've lost to you four times, but this time, I'll beat you for the second time. I'll redeem myself. At least, I know this place better than you! In this battle in China, I'll definitely be the winner!"

"The winner doesn't talk as much nonsense as you!" Frank spat, his face radiating arrogance, clearly increasingly self-satisfied.

Chris's expression changed again, then he chuckled, "Yeah, Frank should be pretty confident! After all, you came here to accompany your grandfather for treatment, but instead you've come to race. I heard that Mr. Serge's heart condition is getting worse, and he could die suddenly at any moment. It's quite an achievement that you're still here racing!"

"Chris, with your mouth so sharp, I think you're not suited for racing, you're suited to being a prostitute. Today's race, I'm taking the five million dollars for first prize. I think you'd better shut your mouth, otherwise, you won't even get the one million for third prize!"

Frank coldly finished speaking and rolled up the car window.

Chris's face was grim. He slammed his hand on the steering wheel and angrily muttered to himself, "Screw you! Frank, you're so arrogant, I'm going to teach you a lesson today!"

At that moment, all the rock music suddenly stopped.

Then, the blonde woman standing on the cliff platform, wearing only gold underwear, suddenly swept the flag in her hand down with a whoosh. Instantly, the roar of the sports cars reached its peak, like countless thunderclaps rolling across the mountain road, making hearts pound and blood surge like a raging river.

It was like the howl of demons from the depths of hell!

Then, the whooshing sound suddenly intensified!

One after another, the sports cars shot off into the distance like arrows released from a bow.

The young men and women standing around, tiptoeing to watch the sports cars speed away, exclaimed excitedly, saying things like, "So fast! They're like lightning!" Many were also discussing amongst themselves:

"I reckon Chris will win this race! He's been here longer, knows the roads better, and his Koenigsegg Agera R is significantly better than Frank's Aston Martin V12 Zagato."

"That's not necessarily true. Frank's most prized car is in Australia, but I heard he upgraded his V12 Zagato for this race. The engine sound is clearly different from a regular V12 Zagato! It's hard to say who will win!"

"Anyway, these two are the ones vying for first place; everyone else is secondary. These young masters are really generous; they raised ten million US dollars in one go! The first prize is five million US dollars, which is thirty or forty million RMB in China. If I could earn that much, wow..."

"Forget it, your skills are pathetic. You're only good for watching! Frank and Chris are top-tier racers, world-class! Not just in Yunzhou City, but in the entire Fuhai Province, you can't find many who can rival them!"

This remark won everyone's approval.

Suddenly, someone pointed to the other end of the mountain road and exclaimed in surprise, "Hey? Is that Hummer also here for the race? Why is it only arriving now?"

Then someone else denied it: "What's a Hummer doing here? It's not a sports car!"

Another person said, "Right, it's not here for the race. Look, there's a beautiful woman in the passenger seat!"

Soon, a gust of wind swept past everyone, and a Hummer sped onto the track, driving off triumphantly. The young driver inside waved to those around him, only to be met with a bunch of eye-rolls.

This driver was Lu Chen.

Sitting next to him, Xu Jiaqi was both amused and exasperated: "Achen, what are you doing? They're not welcoming you!"

"Uh," Lu Chen scratched his head, responding calmly, "Anyway, it's a welcoming party! If I don't wave, it'll be impolite. Whatever they think, I did the right thing."

"Okay," Xu Jiaqi rolled her eyes at Lu Chen.

Soon, the Hummer sped off at around 180 km/h.

A burst of laughter erupted from behind:

"Damn! That kid thinks we're welcoming him? What a lunatic! He thinks he's something special just because he drives a two- or three-million-yuan Hummer?"

"I think he's really out of his mind. Everyone, guess what? Is he trying to catch our racers?"

"Him? Don't be ridiculous. Even if he drives the Hummer like a rocket, he can't beat those rich kids! I bet he's just a show-off, and ended up making a fool of himself! Don't come back, I'm ready to throw rocks at you!"

...

While everyone was chattering away, Xu Jiaqi, sitting in the Hummer, suddenly received a phone call. After a brief exchange with the person on the other end, her expression changed.

Then, she looked around and quickly described the terrain.

The person on the other end seemed to have changed; after listening to Xu Jiaqi's description, they gave her directions.

After hanging up the phone, Xu Jiaqi nervously turned to Lu Chen and said, "Chen, Mr. Nelson had a heart attack and is being resuscitated! We have to get there quickly. I checked, we can go straight down this road, over that hill, turn left at the fork in the road, and it's about eight more miles! Hurry!"

Mr. Nelson, whose full name is Nelson Johnvin, is the head of the Johnvin family.

Lu Chen nodded: "Don't worry, no problem!"

As he spoke, one foot was already firmly on the accelerator, his eyes fixed on the road ahead.

Whoosh!

The Hummer suddenly accelerated and sped off.

The group behind them stared at each other in disbelief:

"Holy crap, no way? They're actually going to fight?"

"He's going that fast, is he really going to race?"

"Impossible! How can a Hummer possibly outrun those top-tier sports cars?"

...

However, regardless, the Hummer did indeed speed off, and in no time, the massive rear end of the last sports car came into view.

However, the Hummer's performance was primarily focused on stability; its top speed under normal circumstances was only around 180 km/h. Lu Chen's Hummer was clearly modified, increasing its speed to 220 km/h, but against top-tier sports cars that could easily exceed 300 km/h, it was a complete defeat.

Of course, Lu Chen didn't need to outrun those sports cars; he just needed to ensure he was as fast as possible.

But problems soon arose.

This was, after all, a mountain road. Although it was wide and the ground was flat, built to provincial highway standards,... However, this road was full of twists and turns, and the curves were mostly very steep, with cliffs often on either side!

Even the most skilled drivers had to slow down on such curves, some even reducing their speed to just over 100 km/h. In this situation, the Hummer, with its heavy and sturdy chassis, actually seemed quite fast when cornering.

Lu Chen wasn't a novice when it came to racing. Back in his day, as one of the rich second-generation heirs of Jiaying City, he was a frequent racer, from two-wheeled vehicles to four-wheeled vehicles—he practically raced airplanes—and he did quite well.

So, once he started driving fast, in less than ten minutes, he actually overtook three sports cars while cornering! The three drivers were stunned. Damn! They'd been overtaken by a Hummer?

They overtook them again on straightaways, but their triumph was short-lived, as they were often overtaken again by the Hummer while cornering! Who can blame him for the many bends in this road? Around every bend, Lu Chen truly had his advantage.

Fifteen minutes later, five sports cars had been overtaken by the Hummer!

The drivers were frantic. Who was this dark horse that had suddenly appeared out of nowhere? It was too arrogant! They tried to catch up several times on the straightaways, but were always left far behind.

Lu Chen, too, noticed that the sports cars were unwilling to be overtaken and were desperately chasing him. The sports cars ahead, having noticed the situation behind them, were pushing even harder, even twisting their bodies to block the Hummer from overtaking.

Lu Chen, still young and impetuous, snorted and, without any politeness, shouted, "Jiaqi, hold on tight! Let's have a race against time!"

Xu Jiaqi's face turned pale: "Chen, you...you slow down! Be careful! Safety first, saving lives...second..."

Lu Chen coldly replied, "Safety first, face second, saving lives third! These guys, they think they're so great! Back when I was racing cars, they were still slamming on their wheels, speeding around on children's bikes, weren't they?"
