Chapter 81 - Chapter 81

Not far from there, a black car was already neatly parked by the roadside, standing out among the passing vehicles.

Beside the car stood a man dressed in a perfectly tailored black suit. His posture was upright, his expression calm, and his demeanor reflected a high level of discipline, as if he had been waiting for quite some time without losing even a trace of patience.

I immediately walked toward the man from the Zenin Clan with relaxed yet measured steps.

The moment he saw me, he fell silent for a brief second. His gaze swept over me from head to toe, observing every detail carefully, as if trying to confirm whether the person before him was truly the one he had been waiting for.

A few seconds later, he finally spoke.

"Are you Mr. King of the Cursed Tools?" he asked politely, though a hint of caution lingered in his voice.

"Yes," I replied shortly, giving a slight nod.

Hearing my answer, the man promptly opened the rear door of the car for me with a smooth and professional motion, showing not the slightest hesitation.

I stepped into the car without saying anything, allowing the atmosphere to remain calm. After that, he closed the door, walked to the driver's seat, and started the engine, which hummed softly before eventually carrying us away from that place.

The car then moved smoothly, leaving the crowded café area and gradually merging into the flow of city traffic.

The next destination was already clear.

The Zenin Clan.

One of the Three Great Jujutsu Clans that held immense influence in the world of sorcerers.

The clan was located in Tokyo—the center of many important activities, both those visible to ordinary humans and those hidden within the shadows.

Yes, the Three Great Jujutsu Clans were based in Tokyo, while the Five Principal Clans were located in Kyoto.

According to information Mei Mei had given me before, this division of locations was not something that happened by coincidence.

The Three Great Jujutsu Clans bore the primary responsibility of monitoring and handling the various Cursed Spirits that appeared throughout Japan. They acted as the front line, facing the threats that most frequently emerged in the human world.

Meanwhile, the Five Principal Clans—also known as the Five Shinto Mystic Clans, or Godai Sōke—had a different role, though no less important.

They oversaw the Youkai.

Creatures that were older, more mysterious, and in some cases far more dangerous than ordinary Cursed Spirits.

And the center of their activities was Kyoto, a city long known as a gathering place for ancient traditions and profound spiritual power.

To be honest, when I first heard that information from Mei Mei, I was quite surprised. I hadn't expected two major groups with such influence to operate in separate locations, as if clearly dividing their territories.

But according to Mei Mei, that separation was intentional, allowing each side to focus on their own responsibilities without interfering with one another.

It made sense.

The journey to Tokyo proceeded quietly.

The sound of the car's engine remained steady, blending with the view of the city that gradually shifted from the outskirts into a more crowded and lively area. Streetlights, tall buildings, and increasingly dense traffic signaled that we were getting closer to the city center.

There was no meaningful conversation inside the car.

The man driving did not seem like the talkative type. He remained focused on the road, maintaining his professional demeanor without attempting to start a conversation.

And I didn't feel the need to start one either.

Some things were better left in silence.

After some time, the car finally entered the territory of the Zenin Clan.

The massive, sturdy gate slowly opened, revealing a vast complex where traditional architecture blended seamlessly with modern touches. The area felt calm, yet beneath that calmness lingered a subtle pressure—an aura that could only be sensed by those sensitive to energy.

The car came to a stop in front of one of the large buildings within the complex.

The building looked magnificent, with well-maintained wooden details and a wide courtyard, reflecting the power and high status of the clan that resided within it.

The man who had been driving immediately stepped out of his seat and opened the door for me, his respectful attitude unchanged from the very beginning.

I stepped out of the car and briefly glanced at the surrounding buildings.

This place was spacious, neatly arranged, and filled with discipline. Not a single corner appeared neglected, as if every part of this place had been carefully maintained for years.

It clearly demonstrated the strength of a great clan that had stood for a long time.

However, there was one thing I immediately noticed.

Not a single high-ranking member of the Zenin Clan had come to greet me.

Wow. They really didn't come to meet me?

It seemed they were deliberately showing their attitude—a form of initial assessment, or perhaps simply a way to assert their position.

Interesting.

I then walked into one of the main buildings, guided by a female attendant from the Zenin Clan who appeared without saying much. Her steps were calm and measured as she led me through several long corridors filled with silence.

The wooden floor beneath our feet produced soft sounds with every step, while the walls on both sides were decorated with simple yet elegant traditional elements.

Eventually, we arrived at a room that appeared to be a meeting hall.

The attendant stopped in front of the door, then carefully opened it.

I stepped inside without hesitation.

Inside the room, several people were already seated, seemingly high-ranking members of the Zenin Clan. Their seating positions were orderly, forming a stiff and pressure-filled formal atmosphere.

Their gazes immediately fell on me the moment I stepped in—sharp and evaluative, as if they were trying to measure my worth in a single glance.

Among them, an old man seated at the front looked at me with a faint smirk—one that wasn't entirely friendly, yet not entirely hostile either.

Naobito Zenin.

The man's aura felt different from the others—heavier, deeper, as if long experience had shaped him into someone difficult to read.

"So, you must be the man known as the King of the Cursed Tools?" Naobito said, staring at me with a thin, meaningful smile.

"That's right. That's me." I nodded calmly, my movement light yet certain, as if there wasn't the slightest trace of doubt within me.

Standing in the middle of the spacious yet oppressive room, I slowly shifted my gaze around. My eyes moved calmly, observing each person seated there, reading their expressions, catching every small detail in their posture and the aura they emitted.

Just as I had expected from the start.

All members of the Hei were gathered here.

Naobito Zenin sat at the front of the room as their leader, his position clearly showing who held control. His body appeared relaxed, yet his gaze was sharp and calculating. Near him sat Ogi and Jinichi, their faces serious, shoulders tense, as if ready to reject or strike at any moment should the situation change.

Not far from them were Ranta and Chojuro, who appeared calmer. They barely moved, yet their eyes remained fixed on me without pause, like predators waiting for even the slightest opening.
