Chapter 87 - Chapter 87

It felt as though whatever choice I made would still leave the other two feeling abandoned, and that sense of guilt slowly piled up inside me.

Eventually, Shizuka truly lost her patience after seeing me overwhelmed like that almost every single day.

With an annoyed tone she no longer bothered to hide—her voice even carrying a slight sharpness—Shizuka scolded me without hesitation and told me to create a Cursed Tool that could help me carry all four of them at once, as if it were the most reasonable solution in the world.

At first, the request sounded absurd. I even shook my head, feeling that it was excessive and far too troublesome to make something like that just for a situation like this.

But in the end, after seeing the same reality repeat itself day after day without the slightest change, after hearing the same cries over and over until they felt etched into my ears, I still created the Cursed Tool Shizuka had in mind.

A Cursed Tool that granted me two additional arms.

The first time I used that Cursed Tool, the sensation felt strangely unnatural, as if my body was no longer entirely my own.

My movements were stiff at first, and my body felt slightly heavier and unfamiliar compared to what I was used to. It took time to adjust. But little by little, I grew accustomed to it, moving all four arms in a rhythm that gradually felt more natural.

With that, I was finally able to carry all four one-year-old baby girls at the same time. Their small bodies leaned against me, their cries slowly subsiding, turning into soft sobs before eventually stopping altogether.

The atmosphere, which usually felt chaotic and full of pressure, gradually became calmer, replaced by a silence that felt almost unfamiliar.

Even though it still felt a bit uncomfortable for me, at least for the first time, I could take a longer breath without having to choose who to calm down first.

Of course, their troubles didn't end there. It was as if every day, something new would appear to test my patience—and the patience of Mei Mei, Shizuka, and Rika.

Aside from wanting to be carried, they often caused trouble over something I truly struggled to understand—fighting over the same object, even when the situation seemed so clear and simple to me.

What confused me even more was that the objects they fought over often had identical counterparts, with the exact same shape, color, and size, placed not far from them—just within reach of their tiny hands.

And yet, for some reason, they stubbornly insisted on fighting over that one same object, pulling at it with their small strength as if it were the only thing of value in the world.

I truly couldn't understand the reason behind it, and every time it happened, all I could do was stand there and sigh, feeling that my logic was completely useless in front of them.

Seeing my confusion becoming more obvious day by day, Mei Mei finally explained casually, even with a faint smile, that women or girls have a kind of natural instinct to want what other women have, regardless of whether they actually need it or not.

The explanation sounded simple—almost like a joke at first glance—but somehow, it felt very reasonable when applied to the situation that kept repeating itself before my eyes.

That was why those four baby girls, despite still being so small and not yet fully understanding the world around them, would still smile while fighting over the same object.

Their eyes sparkled as if they were winning something incredibly important, without caring that there were identical objects nearby, left completely untouched.

After hearing that, I could only let out a long sigh, allowing my shoulders to slump slightly as I accepted a reality that I couldn't explain with simple logic.

I truly don't understand the way women think, and perhaps it's not something I'm meant to fully comprehend.

Just as I had suspected from the very beginning… a woman's mind really deserves to be called one of the seven mysteries of the world, something that may never be fully explained, even if given a lifetime.

There are times when they want something that is clearly beyond my ability to provide or make happen. For example, they once asked for the Eiffel Tower, or even the Egyptian pyramids.

At first, we thought they simply meant toys that resembled those structures. Because of that, I even made toy replicas based on their requests, doing my best to imitate the details so they would look appealing and fun.

However, my assumption turned out to be wrong. Even after the toys were finished and given to them, the reaction I received was not joy, but rejection. They showed no interest at all.

From that moment, I began to realize that what they wanted was not just imitation objects, but to actually go to those places in person.

It's not that such a thing is entirely impossible for me. With my abilities, I could create a Cursed Tool that would allow us to travel to those locations. However, Rika firmly told me to refuse that request.

Rika reminded me that as a parent, there are times when we must be firm, especially when facing requests that are unreasonable or not truly necessary to fulfill.

According to Rika, not every wish a child has should be granted. If something doesn't need to be done, or might even plant a bad habit, then it's better to refuse it from the start.

Her words sounded simple, but they made sense—don't get used to always granting every single one of their requests, especially when it's driven by fleeting desires.

That's why, even when they sometimes cried loudly, to the point where it was difficult to calm them down, we still tried not to waver.

We held ourselves back from giving in to their whining, even though the situation wasn't always easy. At times, it felt exhausting, but we knew that this kind of firmness was part of our responsibility.

However, behind all that chaos—amid the crying, the quarrels, and the endless exhaustion—there were also things I couldn't ignore, small moments that slowly filled the empty space within me.

Over the past year, I witnessed how they began to learn to crawl, moving slowly with their tiny hands and knees across the cold floor, falling with their small bodies, then getting back up without giving up, as if failure was not something to be feared.

I also witnessed the moment when they spoke their first words, small voices that might sound ordinary to others, yet felt so clear and overwhelming to me.

Nanako was the first to say the word "mama," even though it sounded faint and imperfect, directed at Mei Mei with sparkling eyes and an innocent little smile.

Then Mimiko, with her small, still unclear and slightly stuttering voice, called me "papa," making me freeze for a moment, as if time had stopped just to let me understand what had just happened.

Maki followed by calling Shizuka "mama," her voice slightly firmer, while Mai, with her innocent expression and wide eyes full of curiosity, said the same word to Rika, as if it was the most natural thing in the world.

Those small moments felt far more valuable than all the exhaustion we went through, far more meaningful than every bit of chaos we had to face each day.
