I stood there and watched her quietly. My mother. The woman who had brought to life every bad thing that's ever happened to me. She looked at me the same way she always had since I was a kid. Hatred, there was so much hatred it was hard to believe that she was the one who had birthed me and Aisha.
"I'm very impressed with you, my dear son," she said. "After so many years of watching you suffer, you were finally able to undo the binding, and even set the spawn of satan himself free, though I had no more use of him anyway. I'm sure your powers have tripled now, hasn't it?"
I stared at her. The cold in my chest spread as I willed myself to ask the question I'd always wanted to ask since the very beginning.
"Why? Why did you deceive me? I was just a kid. I was your son. Even if you hated father, we had no hand in what happened to you. So why did you hate me and Aisha so much?"
