Chapter 8 - Another Me, Only You

"But—"

It felt as if something were stuck in my throat. Maybe that was why, I sounded rough, cracking as if I were about to break down in tears, even though my sole intention had been to lash out in an unrestrained anger.

"And it's not our first time arguing about this, Adrian." She maintained an unbothered expression, as calm as a still lake, while throwing stone-like words that crashed into the waves of my already disturbed waters. "You saw her, right? What does she look like?"

"...S-she had blonde hair resembling gold... liquid gold." I forced the words out as I pieced together every detail I could remember from my last conversation with her. "A sweet voice, yet distant. I don't think I've ever heard such a... beautiful voice before."

There have been many strange things happening to me lately. Like... how whenever I talked about her, the corners of my lips lifted, and I would unknowingly find myself smiling.

"...The word 'Grace', it must have been invented for someone like her. At first, I thought she had blue eyes, but on a closer look, they had a green tint. Her skin tone made her look delicate, almost fragile, yet her eyes gave off an entirely different vibe—"

"—Someone familiar?" Doctor Sarah interrupted, throwing a sharp question aimed precisely at something she spotted—a crack in my plot.

Plot twist? This was everything I had managed to piece together from those endless dreams that kept repeating themselves. Some were new, adding fresh details to the memories of another me. While some were old enough to be permanently engraved in my mind.

Yet, as the doctor assessed my shifting expressions carefully under her clinical observation, the truth hit me like a harsh, crushing wave: despite each and every detail I had just spoken aloud, despite my whole mind being occupied by you, I still couldn't picture your face...
