Mado Akira stopped in her tracks. The inhuman roar echoing from behind—from the direction where Kael had been left alone—made her heart tremble. But she knew better than anyone that now was not the time for a backward glance; she had to keep up her pace to save the remaining units.

Finally, at the next intersection, she found Mado Kureo and Amon, who had just finished their own skirmish.

"Why are you alone? Where is First Class Kael?" Kureo's expression shifted, a grim suspicion flickering in his uneven eyes.

"Kael was ambushed by Aogiri executives. It's a trap! We must notify the main force and evacuate immediately!"

"A trap? Just as I thought," Kureo muttered. His sharp intuition had already flagged the lack of resistance as an anomaly. But it was too late.

Deafening explosions tore through the night. Even though they weren't at ground zero, the building shook violently. The Aogiri Tree had rigged the entire base with high-grade explosives.

"GO! Evacuate now!" Kureo grabbed Akira's wrist, preventing her from running back toward the roar, and dragged her out through a window. Seconds after they cleared the perimeter, the structure behind them collapsed in a thunderous cloud of concrete and dust.

"KAEL!!" Akira screamed, but the smoke was too thick to see through. Half of the CCG combat personnel were already buried.

In another sector of the ruins, the battle had just reached its peak. Eto Yoshimura, in her One-Eyed King form, had completely shed her human facade. She stood over three meters tall, a massive monster crawling on all fours like a prehistoric predator.

Unlike Tatara, her single crimson eye burned with a cold, terrifying rationality.

"Hehehe... what an alluring scent," she hissed, her long tongue flicking the air to catch Kael's bio-signature. "I must savor your taste very carefully."

"Then you'd better change back to your original appearance," Kael replied, unbothered. "Your current look really doesn't pique my interest."

Eto's massive eye blinked in confusion. Interest? I'm here to eat him, what does interest have to do with anything? She didn't yet grasp the "Gender Bias" Kael applied to his research subjects.

The One-Eyed King exhaled a red mist. The Ukaku behind her transformed into blood-red crystalline blades, nearly a meter in length. Each carried the piercing power of a large-caliber sniper rifle.

Kael stood his ground, swinging his arm with a kinetic force that shattered the incoming crystals like glass. He looked at the shallow scratches on his forearm.

"As expected of the Owl. You actually managed to wound me," Kael praised.

Eto stared at his arm. In the blink of an eye, the tiny scratches had healed. The skin was smooth as porcelain. He hadn't lost a single drop of blood, yet he called it a "wound"? His sincerity felt like the ultimate taunt.

Eto initiated a ghostly dash. Despite her size, she was an Ukaku user; speed was her primary sub-routine. She became a blur, attempting to find a weakness in Kael's defense. Finally, she used her Kagune-based propulsion to burst forward, wrapping her sharp claws and four extra arms around Kael in a "fervent embrace."

"Got you," she laughed.

"No," Kael whispered, his arms exerting a sudden, crushing force. He snapped her Kakuja arms like dry twigs. "I've got you."

Serious Punch.

Kael's fist drove into the center of the monster's chest. The Kakuja shell exploded outward, revealing the petite, bandage-wrapped girl inside. Before she could recover, Kael grabbed her by the throat, pulling her out of the Kagune husk like pulling a radish from the soil.

She tried to fire a last-ditch barrage of shards, but Kael pinned her to the ground. He raised his fist again.

Serious Punch.

BOOM—!!

The rooftop shattered. The shockwave swept away the smoke for a hundred meters. Eto stared blankly at the moon. Her body was untouched—Kael's punch had grazed only the tips of her hair—but the psychological impact of staring down a "zeroing event" left her soul shaken.

"To think the renowned One-Eyed Owl is actually such a cute girl," Kael said, brushing aside her dark green hair to reveal her face.

Kael tossed her a red cloak to cover her curvaceous, bandage-strewn figure. "The victory is decided. Welcome to my laboratory, Eto."

He reached out a hand. Eto hesitated, then gently took it. She knew the path she had written for herself was now officially archived. With Kael blocking the way, there was no other "King" that could rise.

"I hope you don't disappoint me," she whispered. "Otherwise, I'll find an opportunity to eat you."

"You want to eat me? Just make an appointment," Kael winked.

Noro arrived shortly after, followed by the Manager and the Anteiku crew, whom Kael had notified in advance.

"Papa~" Eto called out. Her voice was sweet, but hollow. The relationship between the father and the daughter he'd given away was still a "Work in Progress."

"Ayato! Are you okay?" Touka rushed to her brother, who was pinned to the floor by a discarded Quinque.

"None of your business! Who are these people?!" Ayato yelled, his brain completely unable to process the gathering of legendary Ghouls and a shirtless CCG Investigator.

Kael walked out of the ruins, his body glistening with sweat under the moonlight. The muscle lines of his "Golden Ratio" physique were on full display.

Gulp.

Koma Enji swallowed audibly. Kael expressionlessly sent him flying with a single punch.

"Dammit, Koma. I'm the protagonist, not your fanservice."
