Ruby smelled and acted differently. For weeks I watched from afar, hating what I had done to her. I wished it was the hurt that was making her act the way she was acting. But I knew better. Especially the fact that Austin had been with her all this time and he must have been whispering things in her ears about me.
She stared at me with resentment most of the time. I couldn't blame her for it.
What I had decided I was going to do was win her back. Fix the shit I ruined so that she and I could stay together like we were meant to be.
That however didn't take away the gnawing feeling my wolf projected at me from time to time. Something was wrong somewhere.
And even though I'd asked him each time the feeling came, he didn't have answers for me. He didn't know either. Which was deeply concerning.
So I decided to pay attention instead. To the pack, the my mate and to my fucking self.
Whatever it was, I didn't want to be caught unawares.
