The private jet landed in Oak City just after midnight but by the time the car dropped me off at Miller's building, it was almost 3AM.
Heavy rain was pouring down. It was the kind that soaked through clothes in seconds. I hadn't bothered with an umbrella. I just wanted to get here.
When I reached Miller's door, I was drenched and shivering, my buzz cut dripping water down my neck. My hand trembled slightly as I pressed the doorbell then knocked loudly when there was no immediate response.
A minute later, the door finally opened.
Miller stood there in nothing but a pair of grey sweatpants, looking like he'd just woken up. His eyes widened the second he saw me.
"What the heck…?" he muttered, taking in my soaked clothes and the way I was visibly shivering. "Leo? What the hell are you doing here at three in the morning?"
I tried to speak, but my teeth were chattering too much. The cold rain had seeped all the way to my bones.
