The group flew out of the exit with Lustrous Gossypium carrying her own brother, who was almost too slow to escape from one of the collapsing pillars. The three only stopped when they were at a safe enough distance.
Lustrous Gossypium put Ludwig down so he could adjust his heavy bags of supplies on his shoulders. He looked back at the ruined building that was once a safe place. It was now reduced to rubble.
"That noise might have attracted some monsters," Ludwig said in a low voice.
"Well, let them come. We can handle it," Lustrous Gossypium spoke with confidence, and Mending Rosemary nodded along and added. "Even if we couldn't, no doubt Big Sis Lily would save us."
'Maybe as a last resort, definitely not now though.' Ludwig remarked on the girl's proclamation in his mind. 'Why do you expect so much from someone you've never even met?'
"Here they come."
Lustrous Gossypium had spotted multiple groups of monsters comprised of goblins, kobolds, and a horde of writhing tentacle monsters coming towards them.
Mending Rosemary brandished her mace, ready to jump into the horde. However, she was stopped by Lustrous Gossypium.
"Don't go yet, Rose. This is where my power shines."
Lustrous Gossypium summoned her needle. She channeled the strange power into it before spinning in a circle.
With that gesture, webs of threads manifested at a distance between their group and the horde. The webs became invisible walls threatening to slice down unsuspecting monsters charging at them.
"Don't run at those threads if you do not want to be cut, Rose," Lustrous Gossypium warned. "You should stay behind to protect Big Bro while I handle these things."
"Okay!"
The kobolds were the first to reach the webs of threads. The one in the lead charged forward with aggression and came out on the other side as neat blocks of flesh. It didn't even have the time to howl before it fell apart.
The rest of the monsters skidded to a halt before the invisible barrier because they had seen the result of such action.
Yet the writhing tentacle creatures were none the wiser. Hordes of them mindlessly jumped over the other monsters and into the webs, only to be dissolved like salted slugs when they came in contact with it.
Ludwig watched the carnage behind the two magical girls.
'That's my sister!' he cheered inside his head.
He heard a noise from behind and turned around only to see multiple groups of skeletons and ghouls slowly approaching them.
"Monsters from behind," he notified the two girls.
They noticed the presence of the undead right after.
With her quick judgment, Lustrous Gossypium knew those monsters would not be fast enough for her threads to work. She commanded Mending Rosemary.
"Rose, you handle them." She said while beginning to move on the offensive on her side.
"Mmh." Mending Rosemary acknowledged the command.
She leaped straight into the horde with her mace ready to fight. The first hit landed on a skeleton.
The pure physical force of the hit sent bursts of shrapnel made of bone fragments into the other undead creatures, setting off a deadly chain reaction.
Mending Rosemary looked down on her arm that held the mace and winced from the pain. It was heavily injured from the sheer force that she used.
The battle against those giants had left a mark on her unconscious mind. She was still using the full potential force of the muscles with every attack without any semblance of control.
However, that didn't mean she would stop. Her restoration magic healed the arm back to normal within a second, and she continued the carnage. She broke the bodies of the undead and her own, then healed herself back to the perfect state.
Ludwig observed the fight of the little nun in utter horror. He had suspected that healing was just one part of her power. He thought she was using the other power that came along with it to kill those ogres at the camp.
He was wrong.
Her power was just that, healing. What had killed those ogres at the camp was not a secret offensive power that she had. They were killed by this insane, self-destructive girl who shattered her own bones with every strike she landed with the mace.
And as she tore through the undead with ruthless efficiency, betraying her own innocent appearance, she was smiling.
'What kind of struggle did you go through to move like this?! Does she feel pain at all?' he wondered in his mind.
He looked back at his sister. She held the end of the fading strings and launched the giant needle like a javelin toward the magic beasts.
Instead of falling short, the fading string extended infinitely to stay connected to her hand.
The needle became a blur. It did not move in a straight line but curved and whistled through the air with sentient precision.
Lustrous Gossypium was guiding the needle with her mind through the threads. It zigzagged between the monsters and pierced through their skulls with inhuman accuracy.
The way the giant needle moves through the air made Ludwig reminiscent of the blue man who moves his deadly arrow by whistling.
'You were training while I was gathering supplies outside?' He thought, looking at his sister's back.
He was proud that his little sister had become stronger than she was when she had first transformed.
Ludwig watched as the two easily won against the magic beasts. They stood still for a while, talking to the empty air.
He knew this was the gods giving them after-battle comments. Lustrous Gossypium looked proud, while Mending Rosemary looked a bit guilty.
'Of course the god would admonish you if you kept destroying yourself to fight like that.' He thought.
The two magical girls did ask some questions that he had already asked Hades, so he felt a bit of a waste.
'I should give them some lectures about these things when I show up in front of them as Equinox Spider Lily,' with that noted in his mind.
"Big bro, you spent an awful lot of time thinking about something, huh?" Lustrous Gossypium teased, "Is it about how your girlfriend didn't come to save you while we were swarmed with magic beasts?"
"She's not my girlfriend!" Ludwig protested, but he realized too late.
"I didn't even say her name yet."
'Damn it!'
