Chapter 93 - Advanced Transfiguration

Professor McGonagall was shocked from the beginning of the transformation. She could naturally see what Adrian was doing.

About a minute later, an owl with snow-white feathers appeared in front of the two of them, cooing twice and looking around curiously.

However, Adrian let out a sigh of relief and said with disappointment.

"What a shame..."

Adrian was very disappointed. Although this transformed owl was exactly the same as a real one, this conversion was only temporary and would last longer at most, because he'd still failed to change its essence in the end.

This was obviously his closest success yet.

[Ding!]

[After your constant practice, the proficiency of Transfiguration has slightly improved.]

In his mind, a reminder of the improvement in Transfiguration proficiency came through, which gave Adrian some comfort.

"Don't be disappointed. Your actions have exceeded all my expectations," Professor McGonagall said, regaining her composure.

She felt that even Dumbledore wouldn't have been able to do what Adrian just did in first year.

But after the praise, Professor McGonagall's face became serious again as she asked.

"You just used magic to analyze your own body, didn't you? I almost thought you were performing a dangerous Animagus transformation! Fortunately, you didn't go deep, or I would have had to interrupt your transformation process..."

"Is that how Animagus is practiced?" Adrian's eyes lit up. He felt he'd found a way to quickly improve his Transfiguration skills.

If he could learn Animagus, his Transfiguration level should be able to improve greatly again.

Professor McGonagall felt speechless. She regretted her momentary slip, but since she'd already said it, she went on to warn him.

"Animagus is a very advanced transformation spell. You'd better not try it alone, because once the transformation fails, the consequences could disastrous!"

"If you're really interested, when you come back next semester, I can give you some guidance." Professor McGonagall was hesitant to say this. She didn't know if she should allow him to study such advanced Transfiguration so early.

But she knew very well that persuasion wouldn't work. Instead of letting Adrian try secretly in private, it was better to teach him herself.

Of course, Adrian agreed without hesitation. If someone was willing to teach, he wouldn't be so stupid as to try it alone. After all, Animagus involved transforming one's own body, what if he made a mistake?

In Hogwarts, except for Dumbledore, whom he didn't want to rely on too much, Professor McGonagall had the highest level of Transfiguration!

"Since you agree, let's make a promise that you won't try to analyze your body with magic before next semester." Professor McGonagall warned.

"Then can I analyze other living things?" Adrian was very clear that his Transfiguration now wanted to improve its proficiency, and reading general related books was no longer useful.

Only by performing high-level transformation like this time could he gain some proficiency.

Thinking of this, Adrian looked at the transformed owl on the side, and his attention turned to Echo in the dormitory.

Professor McGonagall could see right through this and said sternly.

"An owl is a wizard's best friend. No wizard will hurt their own owl willingly!"

"Cats aren't good either." Professor McGonagall added. "Perhaps you can experiment with a toad or a mouse."

'Aren't they friends of wizards too? This is species discrimination!'

In the end, Adrian still didn't voice his complaint, because he was quickly kicked out by Professor McGonagall. The reason was that if he was allowed to stay any longer, the others wouldn't be able to take their exams.

Before leaving, Professor McGonagall felt she couldn't let him be too overconfident, so she reminded him.

"Don't forget to review your textbooks and read more books at home. I'll test you again when teaching begins. If it doesn't meet the standards, don't blame me for temporarily breaking our agreement."

Adrian nodded. He wouldn't be overconfident because of his strength.

When dealing with Voldemort's soul fragment, Adrian had already realized his weakness. Even when his opponent had no mobility, he'd had to rely on the protective magic in Harry to win the battle.

If he faced the real Dark Lord, he was afraid he wouldn't even have the ability to resist.

Therefore, Adrian had made up his mind long ago to make use of the long vacation time after leaving school. Not a single day could be wasted!

But young wizards seemed unable to cast spells outside school.

Thinking of this, Adrian got a headache. He remembered the wands sold in Ollivander's shop in the original books. Each one had the Trace on them. The Ministry of Magic could easily check whether these wands were being used until the young wizards graduated from Hogwarts.

This meant that unless he figured out a way to get another adult wizard's wand, he could only stay in his room and read books during summer vacation.

After all, the Ministry of Magic's regulations on this were extremely strict. As soon as a young wizard was found casting a spell outside school, first a warning, second expulsion, and third their wand broken!

Not everyone was the famous Harry Potter. Adrian didn't think he'd have immunity rights.

Feeling down, Adrian walked out of the classroom. Harry and the others, who'd been waiting outside for a long time, thought he'd failed the exam.

"Adrian, it's okay to not perform well once in a while. We all know your Transfiguration skills are excellent." Hermione comforted him.

Harry and Ron also nodded repeatedly.

"Poor performance? No. Professor McGonagall gave me the highest score on the spot." Adrian knew they'd misunderstood and waved his hand.

"Then why aren't you happy?" Harry asked strangely. Adrian had been inside for so long, so logically he should be pleased.

"It's just that Professor McGonagall added an extra quiz for me. I didn't pass it." Adrian explained dismissively. He couldn't say he was trying to figure out how to exploit the Ministry of Magic so he could cast spells outside of school, could he?

"Harry Potter!"

Harry was also about to ask what kind of quiz it was when Professor McGonagall's voice rang out from the classroom. He had to take his test first.

He pushed the door open and walked into the classroom. Harry saw the snow-white owl on the table to the right with a few round buttons underneath.

Harry wondered why Professor McGonagall had brought an owl to the examination room, then suddenly remembered the "quiz" Adrian had mentioned to him.

He'd heard from the young wizards who'd returned from exams that the right side was a display area for excellent exam work, specially used by Professor McGonagall to add "a little" pressure to new test-takers. It also served as a template and demonstration.

Only this time... Harry looked at the owl and swallowed. He felt that the pressure was a bit too much, wasn't it?
