Chapter 88 - Legacy

Dumbledore's displayed strength surprised Adrian somewhat, but after a little surprise, Adrian simply explained that his magic power had burst for a second time. During the process of magic explosion, he'd entered that kind of near-omnipotent magical state, which had raised his strength significantly.

This increase in strength was an important factor in how he'd contained Voldemort.

As for the fusion of unicorn blood, Adrian hesitated about whether to mention it.

This wasn't something that couldn't be said at all.

After all, he'd found the book The Origin of Blood in the Restricted Section. The missing part could also be explained by saying there was a similar book at home that completed it, although there was a chance Dumbledore could see through it on the spot.

Adrian felt the most excessive thing he'd done was stealing Snape's potion and sneaking into the Restricted Section to read.

Given that he'd made so many contributions this semester, Dumbledore was unlikely to do anything to him. At most, there would be strengthened guidance and covert surveillance.

There was absolutely nothing he could say about the secrets of his transmigration and the portable system.

While Adrian was hesitating, Dumbledore suddenly spoke after hearing his experience.

"This may be Blood Awakening..."

"Blood Awakening? What is that?" Adrian had heard this term for the second time. He remembered Voldemort had mentioned it during their fight.

And The Origin of Blood he'd obtained didn't have many records of this aspect. He didn't know if it was in the missing part.

"The Blackwood family..." Dumbledore didn't immediately respond to Adrian's words but fell into thought.

He still had some knowledge of the Blackwood family where Adrian came from. There didn't seem to be any special bloodline in their ancestors.

Of course, it might also be from the lineage passed down by Adrian's mother, Elsa. He didn't know much about things from that side.

Dumbledore thought for a while, then answered Adrian's question.

To put it simply, someone among the ancestors had used various methods to fuse the blood of magical creatures, steal their power, and then pass it down through generations.

This kind of power would be reduced through inheritance, so that after a few generations, the descendants would actually be no different from ordinary wizards.

But these children always had a few special talents. When their strength increased to a certain level, or when they were severely stimulated by chance, they could reawaken the power hidden in their bodies.

Among the best, they were able to integrate the power of magical creatures into magic freely and display incredible abilities.

Adrian nodded. This was similar to his guess based on the book's content, except Dumbledore said more.

"Then is it the same for your family?" Adrian thought of the records in The Origin of Blood. Pretending to be curious, he asked.

Adrian remembered that not everyone in the Dumbledore family was able to summon a phoenix. Only the old Headmaster before him and Credence Barebone (Aurelius Dumbledore) could do this.

Dumbledore heard Adrian's question and fell silent again. His blue eyes looked at Adrian as if he were looking at another person.

His mind seemed to go back decades.

"What's wrong?" Adrian asked strangely.

"It's nothing. I just thought that someone asked me the same question many years ago..." Dumbledore said after a long moment.

Adrian faintly guessed who it was and felt a little annoyed that he'd asked something he shouldn't have. But Dumbledore suddenly smiled.

"I'm very happy. You are not the same as him. You have things he doesn't have..."

Adrian breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed his help with cleanup before hadn't been in vain. Dumbledore was still remembering some past kindness.

"Headmaster Dumbledore, people from the Ministry of Magic are looking for you. They insisted on waiting for you in front of the Headmaster's office." As the atmosphere gradually eased, Madam Pomfrey opened the door and walked in. At the same time, she also glanced at Adrian.

"In addition, I think Blackwood should take a rest."

Dumbledore nodded. The Ministry of Magic's reaction speed was still so slow. Two days ago, he'd notified them about Quirrell's death, and only now did they send someone to deal with it.

This was obviously worlds away from their previous investigations of the dragon. If Fudge and his Ministry of Magic could use the active spirit they had for fighting over power and profit in actual business, there wouldn't be so many troubles in the magical world.

Since he needed to leave temporarily, Dumbledore didn't continue to inquire. What Adrian had answered was already able to clear up most of his doubts, and he had some guesses for the rest.

After telling Adrian a few words to let him rest, Dumbledore got up and walked toward the door.

Adrian, who'd been on edge, finally breathed a sigh of relief. He glanced at the countdown for the experience card, only a few minutes were left.

Adrian estimated Dumbledore's Legilimency was at least level six, and his Occlumency had just risen to level three. Once he lost the blessing and protection of the accelerated thinking in experience card mode, Adrian couldn't be sure he could hide things from him.

And this was still when Dumbledore wasn't using his full strength.

At the same time, in the corridor outside the school hospital, Dumbledore met Harry and the others who'd come to visit Adrian after class.

"Professor, is Adrian already awake?" Hermione asked as soon as she saw Dumbledore.

Harry and Ron also looked on eagerly.

"Well, he seems to be in good condition, but Adrian just woke up. I guess you'll have to convince Madam Pomfrey to let you in to see him." Dumbledore smiled.

Then Dumbledore seemed to have thought of something. He looked at Harry.

"Harry, you said earlier that Adrian released an illusory light and shadow during the battle. Can you tell me what the light and shadow looked like?"

Harry tried hard to think about it. He'd been lying on the ground, so he could only see an outline.

"A horse... the light and shadow looked like a horse, Professor!" Harry said with some uncertainty.

'A horse? Could it be a horse-shaped water creature?'

Dumbledore wondered what kind of horse it was as he walked toward the Headmaster's office.

Watching Dumbledore's figure disappear at the end of the corridor, Harry remembered halfway through that the horse-shaped phantom he'd vaguely seen seemed to have a pointed horn on its head.

Harry hesitated and shook his head. Maybe he was wrong, maybe...
