In the early morning two days later, Adrian, who was eating a bacon sandwich, suddenly felt a chill. When he looked up, he realized it was coming from a gloomy-faced Irene.
"What is this about?"
Irene slapped a newspaper on the table with a loud "thwack."
Adrian took a look and found it wasn't any newspaper he knew, it must be unique to Knockturn Alley. But that obviously wasn't the point.
The point was that on the moving picture on the cover, Dougt was using magic to drag five law enforcers into the wizarding market without any concealment at all. You could vaguely feel the aura of a strong man as he walked.
He could even see in the corners of the moving picture two black-robed law enforcers in charge of guarding who didn't even dare to intercept Dougt as he approached.
Below the animated picture was an exaggerated account of how Dougt had fought and defeated five law enforcers.
Adrian skimmed through it and knew the person who wrote the newspaper didn't know the real facts. It was just based on what Dougt had bragged about himself, combined with words and guesses revealed by the wizard market.
'But... who said to hide the news before?'
Adrian felt he shouldn't have believed that damn Dougt before. Now he'd suddenly hit the headlines of Knockturn Alley.
"So when you went to the wizard market that day, in addition to shopping, you also had a big fight and knocked down five law enforcers, and you didn't tell me when you came back!" Irene patted the table and said angrily.
"Technically, it was Dougt who caused the problem, and he was the one who did most of the fighting," Adrian blinked very innocently.
"Look at this sentence yourself!" Irene pointed to a line written on the fifth row of the newspaper.
It clearly read that the little wizard staying with Dougt had easily defeated an adult wizard in the wizard market. The editor had even written a special feature about it, opening a small space separately and placing it under the cover.
After all, this was extremely rare.
Adrian was a little upset. He'd actually forgotten that he'd made a move once in the wizard market. Those five law enforcers could have their memories erased by Dougt using the Memory Charm, but that one wizard was an exception.
Faced with Irene's questioning look, Adrian had to tell the story of the incident, while emphasizing that he'd only done some minor support work.
At that moment, the sound of the bell hanging outside the door rang, interrupting Irene's plan to continue questioning.
"I'll open the door first. We'll talk after you finish eating." Irene said, then turned and went downstairs.
Adrian finally breathed a sigh of relief. He had to think about what he should say later.
'But the door hasn't opened yet, who would come at this time?'
Adrian's heart stirred, and his Patronus reappeared as he waved his wand.
After a period of practice, he'd become more comfortable with it. When he released it now, it didn't make the loud neighing sound like before.
Because maintaining the illusory state didn't consume much magic, Adrian had also used this method to patrol the surroundings in the past few days to prevent people from coming to cause trouble.
The Patronus passed through the wall, and the figure at the door was easily spotted. The corners of Adrian's mouth twitched slightly.
'Why did he come here?'
On the first floor in the dark magic shop, Irene opened the door.
Outside was Dougt, whom they hadn't seen in a few days, with a large box behind him. It was the storage box containing the Dementor.
"Dougt!" Seeing who it was, Irene's anger that had been about to strike Adrian completely turned toward Dougt.
Dougt knew about the newspaper very well. He waved his hand, his face looking guilty.
"Irene, this time it was all my fault. If Adrian hadn't acted in time two days ago, I might have been caught by those law enforcers."
Irene wanted to accuse Dougt of recklessly involving Adrian in a dangerous battle, but she was stunned when she heard his words.
'Isn't it written in the newspaper that he solved the five law enforcers alone?'
'How does Dougt's meaning sound like Adrian did it?'
Irene turned her head suspiciously and looked upstairs. She remembered someone saying he'd just done some minor support work.
"What, didn't little Adrian tell you?" Dougt saw Irene's movement and suddenly asked with some doubt.
He'd asked Adrian to hide the news for a while because he wanted to wait for the matter to be dealt with before coming to apologize.
It's just that the plan had been somewhat different from his actual actions in the end. Such a big thing couldn't be concealed at all, so he'd simply made a big fuss and taken the matter on himself. He'd thought that Adrian had already told Irene after the news came out.
"No, so what exactly happened?" Irene gritted her teeth.
Dougt felt guilty and didn't try to conceal anything. He explained how he'd drunk too much and made a little noise in the wizard market, finally getting into a fight with the law enforcement team.
The Patronus that Adrian had used in the battle still shocked Dougt. After speaking, he couldn't help but sigh.
"This is the first time I knew the Blackwood family had such a powerful spell. No wonder you wanted him to practice it with a Dementor."
'The Blackwood family has such a powerful spell? I don't know about it.'
Irene was confused, especially when Dougt said that Adrian had used a powerful spell similar to the Patronus Charm before showing up physically and had easily dealt with several law enforcers. She almost thought Dougt was telling a story.
You had to understand that the law enforcers in the wizard market were all professionally trained. Although there was still a gap compared to the Aurors of the Ministry of Magic, they were definitely much better than the average wizard.
"I don't think even that person could do this at his age," Dougt muttered to himself, thinking of someone who frightened him.
"By the way, how come I've never seen you use this spell before?" Dougt asked curiously.
"That's because I don't know how to," Irene's face was very strange, but she didn't deny that the Patronus was a spell of the Blackwood's heritage.
"That's right, this level of spell also requires talent." Dougt nodded his head, thinking that Irene was saying only Adrian could learn this mysterious and powerful magic.
Irene was silent for a while. She really didn't know how to deal with Dougt's assumptions. After thinking about it, she turned her head and shouted upstairs.
"Adrian Blackwood!"
There was silence upstairs with no response. After a while, the sound of footsteps coming down the stairs could be heard.
Adrian had heard Irene talking with Dougt upstairs. Now he could only bite the bullet and go downstairs.
In front of Dougt, Irene wasn't comfortable asking questions directly, but she angrily gave Adrian a look, indicating: What is going on with that so-called powerful spell?
Adrian looked back with an innocent expression and said, "Didn't you know before? My Patronus Charm is a little bit special."
