"Remember, be very careful! They're dark wizards, and it's very likely they'll attack us when we enter the door." Before entering, Dawlish lowered his voice and warned them.
"Mm..." Ellison and Savage nodded like chickens pecking rice.
The three of them walked to the door. The bell hung on the door shook gently with the wind, making a pleasant ringing sound.
Dawlish acted like he was facing a great enemy. He instinctively turned his head and with a "swish" took out his wand and pointed it at the bell.
The long training also made Savage and Ellison react quickly, coping Dawlish's movements in a hurry.
In short, you could never go wrong copying the senior's actions.
However, a few seconds passed and nothing happened.
The two young Aurors looked at Dawlish with nervous expressions. Could it be that something had happened but they hadn't seen it?
"Ahem..." Dawlish coughed a little awkwardly. He was looking for a reason to save face when he heard someone say, "Welcome to Blackwood Unusual Magical Items Shop. Do you have any needs?"
At the front desk of the store, Adrian looked strangely at the three Aurors at the door with their wands out, acting like they were facing a great enemy. He really didn't understand what they wanted to do with the doorbell, but he still spoke enthusiastically.
Adrian's timely words relieved the awkward atmosphere. Dawlish quickly withdrew his wand, expressionless, pretending nothing had happened.
Ellison and Savage's attention also shifted to Adrian instantly.
Before coming in, Ellison had thought about what the shopkeeper inside would look like.
A gloomy, eccentrically dressed bald wizard? Or an old witch with one blind eye and a strange smile on her face? But no one had thought they'd be greeted by an eleven or twelve-year-old wizard.
"Where is Mrs. Blackwood?" Dawlish frowned. He hadn't expected this, but his cautious attitude kept him from letting his guard down.
He remembered that in the materials he'd read, the owner of this dark magic shop should be a witch.
"Mom? She's upstairs and will be down soon," Adrian explained, then walked out from behind the counter and gestured to the three of them.
"Are you gentlemen and lady here to buy things? Then I can introduce them to you. I think you'll definitely be interested."
The female Auror, Savage, opened her mouth, wanting to explain their purpose, but was stopped by Dawlish. The strong man like an iron tower shook his head at the two team members and said, "Yes, we're just buying things."
Ellison and Savage immediately understood what Dawlish meant. The captain wanted them to pretend to be customers and understand the situation in the store.
Even though they'd come here in uniforms, the little wizard might not know who they were. They'd just let him tell them about these dark magical items, best if they could personally handle something.
Adrian was clear about the Aurors' identities but didn't mean to expose them at all. So he took the group around the store and introduced the products.
Because he was also counting on these Aurors to buy more things to take back, then help publicize them.
The three Aurors from the Ministry trembled as they moved among the many magical items. Although these things looked normal, they guessed there was some vicious dark magic in them.
"This is a Decoy Detonator," Adrian said, pointing to the closest item made of what looked like logs.
"What, you're selling fake and shoddy products here?" Savage said angrily.
"This isn't a fake or shoddy product. Can't you read the instructions yourself?" Adrian said with a vein popping on his forehead.
Savage immediately leaned close and glanced at it. There was a sign explaining the Decoy Detonator's use.
"When touched, it will become a toy made of rubber or tin?" Savage murmured.
'It seems there's nothing special about this, but dark magical items are definitely not that simple.'
"Could it be that this thing will turn us into toys? That's horrible!"
Savage took a few steps back with a look of horror.
Ellison was also speechless hearing this.
Adrian was at a loss. Looking at their reactions, he had to hold the Decoy Detonator in front of them.
The three of them noticed Adrian's movements and instinctively moved a little farther away, staring at the object closely.
As everyone watched, the fake wand suddenly turned into a soft rubber mouse after being touched by Adrian. The Weasley twins had also built some sound magic inside, which could emit squeaking screams.
Savage screamed when she saw the mouse, but Ellison looked back at Dawlish with a strange expression.
'This is the dark magical item you mentioned, Captain? It doesn't seem terrible at all.'
'This is just a toy, not a dark magical item...' Dawlish rolled his eyes, then used his gaze to signal the two not to relax their guard. This was probably something specially made to confuse them.
Savage and Ellison solemnly nodded. They were well-trained Aurors. Although they hadn't been in office long, they'd also heard about many dark wizards during training. They usually used some disguise to make the victim relax before launching a fatal blow!
However, as Adrian introduced the magical items in the store, Savage and Ellison's faces became more and more strange.
A Dungbomb that could spew foul-smelling juice after hitting an enemy, a Self-Writing Quill that automatically answered questions to complete school tasks, or a potion that could temporarily increase charm after drinking...
With a series of explanations, coupled with Adrian's natural talent, Savage almost couldn't help being tempted to pay several times. Ellison was also moved to hear it, he was extremely hopeful he could buy a Self-Writing Quill so he wouldn't have to write reports himself.
However, every time the two were about to act, they were stopped by Dawlish with a stern look.
'We're currently performing a Ministry mission. How can you buy something in the target's store?'
'Sigh... what picky customers,' Adrian thought. He knew that if he didn't get through to Dawlish, he wouldn't be able to sell anything today.
Thinking of this, Adrian paused and took the group to a shelf in the center. There was a pair of black and red gloves on it with a metal patch in the shape of a shield on the back. The patch was printed with the shop's logo and had golden patterns around it.
For an Auror who'd been in combat for a long time, what could be more attractive than a magical item that enhanced combat effectiveness and survivability?
