The battlefield was quiet.
Not the peaceful quiet of victory.
But the kind of silence that came after something enormous had happened something the world itself was still trying to understand.
Smoke drifted slowly across the shattered ground. Trees at the edge of the forest leaned crookedly, their bark split from the shockwave that had torn through the land minutes earlier.
Aurelia stood in the center of it all.
Her breathing was slow, uneven.
The golden glow that had once surrounded her had faded, leaving only a faint shimmer that clung to her skin like moonlight refusing to disappear.
Darius still held her arm.
His grip was firm, almost possessive.
"You pushed too far," he growled.
Aurelia glanced at him.
"And yet we're still alive."
"That doesn't mean it was smart."
Before she could answer, Lucien stepped forward.
His gaze swept over her carefully, the same way a commander inspected damage after battle.
"You're shaking," he said quietly.
"I'm fine."
"You're not."
Rhydan snorted nearby.
"Of course she's not fine. She just shattered a council-level curse that could've wiped out half a continent."
Cassian crouched down near the cracked earth where Aurelia's power had exploded earlier.
He touched the ground.
The soil was warm.
Energy still pulsed beneath it like a heartbeat.
His eyes narrowed.
"This…" he murmured.
Alaric walked over.
"What is it?"
Cassian brushed some dust aside.
A faint golden pattern had spread across the ground.
Like veins.
Or roots.
"This isn't just leftover power," Cassian said slowly.
Aurelia frowned.
"What do you mean?"
Cassian stood and looked at her.
"You didn't just block their attack."
"You changed the land."
Everyone went silent.
Aurelia felt the faint vibration again.
The same resonance she had felt during the battle.
It moved through the ground.
Through the air.
Through the wolves standing across the battlefield.
Lucien's eyes darkened with realization.
"The White Luna…"
Alaric finished the thought.
"…doesn't just command wolves."
"She commands territory."
Darius looked down at the glowing cracks in the earth.
A slow grin crept onto his face.
"Well."
"That explains why I suddenly feel like tearing apart anyone who steps into this land without permission."
Rhydan laughed.
"That's your normal personality."
"No," Darius said, voice quieter now.
"This is different."
He looked at Aurelia.
"The land recognizes you."
Aurelia stared at the glowing ground.
She hadn't meant to do that.
She had only tried to stop the attack.
But now—
It felt like something deeper had responded.
Something ancient.
Something that had been waiting.
Before anyone could speak again, one of the scouts ran toward them.
"Alpha Lucien!"
Lucien turned.
"What is it?"
"The enemy retreat is confirmed. Council forces are gone from the valley."
A murmur spread across the nearby wolves.
Some of them finally lowered their weapons.
Others simply stared at Aurelia.
Not with fear.
But something else.
Reverence.
Lucien noticed it.
So did Aurelia.
One of the older wolves stepped forward slowly.
His fur was streaked with gray, his posture stiff from old injuries.
He knelt.
Right there in the middle of the battlefield.
The movement shocked everyone.
"Rise," Aurelia said quickly.
But the old wolf shook his head.
"No."
His voice trembled.
"I have served under three Alphas."
He looked up at her.
"And none of them ever protected us like that."
More wolves began kneeling.
One after another.
The sound of armor touching the ground echoed across the valley.
Lucien inhaled slowly.
"This is happening faster than expected."
Cassian folded his arms.
"Symbols spread faster than armies."
Aurelia's chest tightened.
"I didn't ask for this."
Alaric stepped closer to her.
"You didn't need to."
"The moment you broke the Council's attack…"
"…the world started changing."
But before the moment could grow heavier.
A deep rumble rolled through the mountains.
Everyone froze.
Darius's head snapped toward the northern ridge.
"That's not thunder."
Another rumble followed.
This time the ground itself vibrated.
Lucien's expression hardened.
"That direction leads to the old border territories."
Cassian's eyes sharpened.
"And also…"
"…to three packs that never attend Council meetings."
Rhydan grinned.
"The isolationist Alphas."
Alaric nodded slowly.
"They've stayed silent for decades."
Aurelia felt a chill.
"Why would they move now?"
Cassian answered immediately.
"Because of what happened here."
He gestured to the glowing land.
"The Council tried to erase you."
"You survived."
"And now the entire supernatural network will know."
Lucien exhaled.
"Which means every Alpha in the continent will start choosing a side."
Darius cracked his knuckles.
"Good."
"I was getting bored."
But Aurelia's instincts told her something else.
Something colder.
Something more dangerous.
"What if they're not choosing sides?"
Everyone looked at her.
"What do you mean?" Lucien asked.
Aurelia looked toward the distant mountains.
"What if they're coming…"
"…to take the throne before it even exists?"
The rumbling grew louder.
Wolves along the ridge began howling warnings.
A scout ran back again, breathless.
"Multiple forces approaching!"
"How many?" Lucien demanded.
"Three large packs!"
Rhydan whistled.
"Well."
"Looks like the welcoming party arrived."
Darius's eyes gleamed with excitement.
"Let them come."
But Cassian didn't look amused.
His gaze stayed fixed on the horizon.
"There's a problem."
"What?" Lucien asked.
Cassian's voice dropped slightly.
"I recognize one of those banners."
Aurelia felt unease creep into her chest.
"And?"
Cassian's expression darkened.
"That pack doesn't follow the Council."
"That's good," Rhydan said.
Cassian shook his head.
"No."
"That's worse."
Lucien frowned.
"Explain."
Cassian's eyes flicked toward Aurelia.
"They follow something older."
Aurelia's pulse quickened.
"What kind of Alpha commands a pack that doesn't answer to the Council?"
Cassian's voice was quiet.
"The kind who believes the world should never have had a White Luna again."
A heavy silence fell.
Alaric slowly drew his blade.
"Then it seems…"
"…our next battle is already here."
Across the valley.
Three massive armies began descending from the mountains.
And at the front of the central pack…
A towering Alpha stepped forward.
His aura rolled across the land like a storm.
And for the first time since the battle ended.
Aurelia felt the land itself tremble.
