A massive explosion shook the Nexus main hall.
Blue and black energy waves collided in the air, creating crushing pressure that shattered steel pillars around the room. Cracks spiderwebbed across the floor as metal shards flew in every direction.
Aurelia was thrown several steps backward.
Before her body could hit the wall, a hand grabbed her arm.
"Quick!"
Lucien pulled her into a side corridor while Orion slammed the emergency steel door shut behind them. Cassian was the last to enter, then slammed the lock panel until every defense mechanism activated.
Heavy thuds rang out from the other side of the door immediately.
Not once.
But over and over.
Like a monster hammering at the barrier with strength enough to level mountains.
Orion glanced at the small monitor on his wrist.
"The emergency gate will only hold for thirty seconds."
"Thirty?" Cassian hissed in frustration. "That's barely enough time to draw breath."
