Receiving the command, Solrock, despite being intimidated by Mega Metagross's imposing aura, still unleashed astonishing fighting spirit under the will of its second master.
Lunatone also increased its energy output, the light from its aid skill flowing like a tangible warm current into Solrock's body.
The already blazing flames around Solrock became even more terrifying, the red flames even mixed with golden patterns, as if they would burn through the entire rainy day.
"Boom!"
Solarrock transformed into a burning meteor, piercing through the rain, carrying temperatures high enough to melt steel, hurtling straight towards Mega Metagross.
Lionel shouted to Metagross:
"Metagross, show them the power of your Mega Evolution!"
Mega Metagross responded, its four massive metal claws crossing in a cross shape, its body gleaming with a white-gold light—the "Iron Wall" move.
This move greatly increases its defense, and combined with the already skyrocketed defense stat after Mega Evolution, it was practically indestructible.
At the same time, the deep blue cross mark on Mega Metagross's forehead glowed faintly, and an invisible psychic force spread out, condensing the surrounding raindrops into streams of water that wrapped around its metal claws.
This was used to further reduce the power of Solarrock's Flame Charge move.
"Boom—!!!"
Solrock collided violently with the water-covered metal claw!
The violent impact generated a powerful shockwave, scattering the rainwater in the center of the arena. White steam instantly billowed out, obscuring everyone's vision.
A murmur rippled through the stands. Everyone held their breath, staring intently at the steam, eager to know the outcome of the collision.
"What happened?" Liza asked her younger brother.
Tate shook his head, his face pale:
"No… my spiritual power can't sense any feedback from Solrock."
Before he finished speaking, a metallic boom echoed from within the white mist.
Immediately afterward, an orange-red figure was sent flying as if hit by a cannonball, crashing heavily onto the arena with a loud clang.
It was Solrock!
The flames around it had dissipated, the light walls and reflective barriers that had covered it were shattered, and it was still panting heavily, struggling to levitate.
As the white mist slowly dissipated, the Mega Metagross remained silently suspended in place, not even moving. Although the water had evaporated from its metal claws, there wasn't a single mark of injury.
"How…how is this possible?"
Tate exclaimed, his face filled with disbelief. He couldn't believe that his Solrock, even with the full boost from his sister's Lunatone skill, hadn't even broken through the opponent's defense.
The audience erupted in cheers:
"My god! That's Flame Charge! It's a type-advantageous attack, and it didn't work at all?"
"That defense is outrageous! It's practically an impenetrable wall!"
"So monstrous? How can anyone fight this?"
Lionel looked at the Mega Metagross on the field, a slight smile playing on his lips. This was his initial plan when he obtained the Iron Dumbbell.
After its Mega Evolution, Metagross's abilities have been greatly enhanced. Coupled with the defensive and special defense boosting potions awarded by the system, it is now truly an impregnable fortress.
"It's our turn to attack," Lionel said calmly.
Upon hearing Lionel's words, the cross mark on Mega Metagross's forehead shone brightly, and powerful psychic energy instantly activated within it. With its increased speed after Mega Evolution, its figure transformed into a streak of silver-white light, leaving almost an afterimage as it instantly appeared before Lunatone!
"So fast!"
Liza's pupils constricted, and she hurriedly alerted Lunatone through telepathy:
"Lunatone, dodge!!"
Lunatone's body glowed blue as it prepared to dodge, but it felt a powerful psychic force locking it in place. To its horror, it discovered that its body was completely immobilized!
The four massive metal claws in front of Mega Metagross instantly gleamed with a sharp metallic sheen, like four giant axes, attacking Lunatone with a whooshing sound!
At the same time, its four shorter metal arms behind it also sprang out with a "creak," accurately striking Solrock, which was attempting a sneak attack from behind.
"Thud! Hmph!"
Two muffled thuds sounded almost simultaneously.
Lunatone was slammed into the giant claw, and like Solrock before it, the protective barrier formed by the light and reflective walls covering its body shattered. It was sent flying backward, crashing onto the battlefield and tumbling repeatedly.
Solrock was injured again; fine cracks appeared on its rocky shell, and it emitted a painful howl.
"Solrock! Lunatone!"
Liza and Tate exclaimed simultaneously, their faces filled with anxiety.
The Mega Metagross wouldn't give them a chance to breathe. Before they could react, the deep blue cross mark on its forehead erupted with a powerful blue light!
Liza and Tate paled. They could feel their telepathic connection with their Pokémon being severely disrupted, as if a mountain was pressing down on their mental state, preventing them from transmitting any commands.
Tate, through the telepathic connection between the twins, superimposed her psychic power onto her sister.
Liza, suppressing the surge of her mental power, barely managed to break through some psychic interference and simultaneously issued commands to Solrock and Lunatone:
"Lunatone, use moonlight to recover! Solrock, use your psychic power to block the opponent!"
Solrock struggled to raise its head, its eyes glowing blue, and a distorted psychic wave shot towards Mega Metagross.
Meanwhile, Lunatone slowly emitted silver moonlight, helping both Solrock and itself recover.
But all of this was in vain.
The deep blue cross mark on Mega Metagross's forehead erupted with blinding blue light again. Solrock's psychic power collided with the blue light, like a mud ox sinking into the sea, instantly swallowed up.
Immediately afterwards, an even more powerful psychic force erupted from Mega Metagross's body, like an invisible hand, suspending Solrock and Lunatone in the air simultaneously.
"Ugh—"
The two Pokémon cried out in pain, their bodies writhing violently in the air, unable to break free.
They tried to resist with their psychic powers, but against Mega Metagross's overwhelming psychic power, it was like waves crashing against rocks—utterly futile.
"It's over,"
Lionel said softly.
Mega Metagross let out a deep roar, manipulating the suspended Solrock and Lunatone, causing them to collide violently.
Then, it flashed in front of the two Pokémon, its four giant claws exerting force simultaneously, slamming them out of the arena like a volleyball!
"Bang! Bang!"
After two loud crashes, Solrock and Lunatone slammed heavily outside the battle arena, their eyes rolling back, completely incapacitated.
