Redcape's summon, Nightrider, was closing in fast.
Joe's eyes flicked to the side-view mirror and caught sight of the approaching rider on a dark massive mount.
"Shit," Joe muttered.
He slammed his foot down on the accelerator, and the car's engine roared in response, surging forward with a quick boost to speed.
But Nightrider wasn't falling behind.
"Come on, boy!" the summon shouted, leaning forward in the saddle.
The dark horse responded as well, and suddenly it began moving faster than any normal creature ever could.
With that, that gap between them closed in seconds. So much so that in the next few moments, Joe's car and Nightrider were racing side by side.
Cars coming in the opposite direction swerved wildly to avoid them. Tires screeched really badly and honks went off back and forth. Some drivers slammed on their brakes so hard their vehicles skidded to a stop just inches away from collision.
