Vorthraxx Descended violently.
Owen tried short-range teleportation. Spatial magic coiled around him, ready to blink him past the swarm. The replications closed in. His teleportation fizzled as corrupted mana from Vorthraxx's Sovereignty of the Demonic Dragon bleeded into the space around him, causing distortions and making reality itself unreliable. The magic slipped through his fingers like water.
'No! Please!'
Time slowed in Owen's perception. The battlefield became a tableau of frozen motion: hunters mid-strike, demons mid-charge, the sky itself holding its breath. He saw Vorthraxx cutting through the air toward Yuki. He saw the distance between them. He saw that he wouldn't make it.
'No no no—!'
