They reacted with incredible speed, moving like ghosts to appear in front of any student showing signs of radiant transformation. Their spears would flash forward in killing strikes that destroyed corrupted hearts before the transformation could complete, ending lives quickly and efficiently to prevent any potential outbreaks.
Bodies began piling up around various cages as the mortality rate became visibly apparent. For every three or four students who survived successfully, one or two would transform and need to be eliminated. The ratio was actually better than historical averages, suggesting this year's class had been better prepared than usual.
