The moment his name was called, people throughout the stadium immediately began whispering to each other with poorly concealed disdain and mockery in their voices.
"What could he possibly bring that would be worth anything?" one student muttered loud enough to be heard by those around him.
"I honestly don't think he even has anything valuable to present to the academy," another person added with a dismissive laugh. "He should just skip his turn and stop wasting everyone's time. We all know he only survived through pure dumb luck."
"Exactly," a third voice chimed in. "He was the weakest student in the entire school before the trial. His evolutionary progress was pathetic, his talent was garbage, and everyone knew he was going to die. The fact that he somehow made it back probably means he hid in a corner the entire time and got credit for some random minor quest."
