Matt's heart nearly jumped into his throat at the question he'd hoped to avoid, but he quickly composed himself and replied, "He went to handle something urgent."
"Urgent where?" Viola pressed, watching him carefully. Something about the way he'd answered so quickly, without quite meeting her eyes, made her uneasy and suspicious. Did he really go out to hunt Nick by himself?
"Just... pack business. Nothing you need to worry about." He said, and before she could push further, he added, "Oh, before I forget, you have an appointment with Doctor Gilbert at 2 o'clock."
