Chapter 192 - Daisy Johnson’s True Name

Talos's expression shifted slightly, and he was about to step forward.

But Nick Fury raised a hand, stopping him.

Instead, Fury studied Skye with clear interest—there was even a hint of approval in his eye.

"Agent Skye."

"Your suspicion is reasonable. That means Coulson taught you well—you've learned how to question authority."

He paused.

"But you're still too young."

Fury stepped closer until he stood less than half a meter away from her.

"This world doesn't run on trust."

"It runs on leverage."

"I have leverage over the Skrulls. That's why I can use them."

"As for the Secret Warriors program…"

For the briefest moment, Fury's eyes darkened.

But the cold steel returned immediately.

"Yes."

"I signed the authorization."

"But I didn't sell them."

"I was trying to protect them."

"I gathered them together to give them shelter—to teach them how to control their abilities, so they could help protect this world."

"Just like Vought does."

He exhaled slowly.

"But later… it was Alexander Pierce."

"He transferred that list behind my back using my authorization."

"That was my failure. I admit it."

"But I never treated them like merchandise."

Fury's voice hardened.

"The reason I'm standing here now—looking like this—is to settle that debt."

Skye stared at him.

She could tell the anger in his voice was real.

But the resentment in her heart didn't disappear.

"That's your problem," she said coldly.

"Even if everything you said is true, it doesn't change the fact that you screwed everything up."

"And the way you treat everyone like pieces on a chessboard…"

She frowned.

"It's disgusting."

"If this is how S.H.I.E.L.D. operates…"

Skye pulled the S.H.I.E.L.D. badge off her chest.

"…then I quit."

She tossed the badge onto the floor.

It clattered loudly.

Then she turned and walked toward the exit.

"Stop."

Fury's voice sounded behind her.

"What?"

"Are you going to kill me to keep me quiet?" Skye mocked without turning around. Her hand drifted toward the watch on her wrist.

"No."

Fury lowered his voice.

"I just think…"

"…Daisy Johnson."

"You should try being a little friendlier to me."

Skye froze.

Her entire body stiffened.

"…What did you call me?"

Her voice trembled.

Daisy Johnson?

What was that?

A name?

She had been an orphan her whole life. In S.H.I.E.L.D.'s records she was simply 084.

She had spent years hacking databases and digging through archives trying to find out who she was.

Where she came from.

No one had ever called her that.

"Daisy."

Fury repeated it slowly, a mysterious smile tugging at his lips.

"Daisy Johnson."

"That's your real name."

"Or rather…"

"…the name you were given at birth."

Skye's body began to tremble.

That name—

It was the answer she had searched for for more than twenty years.

She had hacked countless systems.

Broken into endless archives.

All for a single question.

Who am I?

And now—

The answer came so casually from Fury's mouth.

"You… how do you know that?"

"Of course I know."

Fury walked closer.

"And if you want to discover your past…"

"You're going to need the help of these Skrulls."

He nodded toward Talos.

"Because your blood…"

"…is special."

His voice became quieter, almost like he was opening a sealed chapter of history.

"Long ago, a race called the Kree came to Earth."

"They conducted experiments on humans."

"They were trying to create a biological superweapon."

"They succeeded."

"And they failed."

"They created a group of humans with extraordinary powers."

"We call them…"

"…Inhumans."

Then Fury pointed directly at her.

"And you, Daisy…"

"…are one of their descendants."

"Inhumans… Kree…"

The words sounded surreal.

Even more absurd than Hydra.

"What does that have to do with Skrulls?" Skye demanded.

"Everything."

Talos finally spoke.

His voice carried deep, ancient hatred.

"The Kree are our mortal enemies."

"They destroyed our homeworld."

"They slaughtered our people."

"They turned us into wanderers across the galaxy."

His eyes fixed on Skye.

"We know the Kree better than anyone."

"Their genetics."

"Their technology."

"And their experiments."

Talos leaned closer slightly.

"There's a trace of the Kree in you."

"And only we can help you find where that trace came from."

"Your parents."

"Your origin."

Fury folded his arms and smiled like a businessman closing a deal.

"And they listen to me."

"So?"

"Is that reason enough for you to be… friendlier?"

Skye looked at Fury.

Then at Talos.

She wasn't stupid.

Nick Fury never revealed secrets for free.

If he was telling her all of this—

He wanted something.

"What do you want from me?"

"Simple."

Fury pointed upward toward the ceiling.

"I know you've got some connection with Homelander."

Skye's heart skipped a beat.

Homelander.

Her fingers unconsciously tightened around the watch on her wrist.

"I don't know what you're talking about—"

"Drop the act."

Fury cut her off.

"I don't care if you're his girlfriend or his spy inside S.H.I.E.L.D."

"He's not my enemy."

Skye didn't confirm it.

She didn't deny it either.

Instead she stared at him cautiously.

"What are you planning?" she asked coldly.

"If you want me to help you scheme against Homelander, you picked the wrong person."

"No, no, no."

Fury wagged a finger.

"I'm not insane."

"Picking a fight with that star-spangled Superman right now would be suicide."

"I just need you to be a middleman."

"A middleman?"

Skye frowned.

"You just need to connect us."

"He doesn't have to agree to anything yet."

"I only need a chance to meet him."

"A meeting where he doesn't immediately cut me into pieces or hand me over to the FBI."

Skye understood immediately.

Nick Fury wanted to attach himself to a bigger power.

In an era where Homelander stood at the absolute peak—

Any organization hoping to survive in the open world had to deal with Vought.

Had to deal with Homelander.

Her heart was in turmoil.

On one side—

She admired and trusted Homelander deeply.

She didn't want to exploit that relationship for Fury's schemes.

But on the other side—

The words "your parents" echoed endlessly in her mind.

The answer she had dreamed about her entire life.

Skye slowly exhaled.

Finally—

"…I can't guarantee he'll agree," she said quietly.

"You just need to pass the message," Fury replied calmly.

"…Fine."

Skye raised her head.

Her eyes were firm.

"But if you're lying to me, Fury—"

"I'll have Homelander burn you to ashes."

Fury smiled.

"Deal."
