Amara was no longer standing in the arena. She was hovering above it, suspended in a storm of ancient light.
The air pressure inside the stadium was suffocating. The ambient mana swirling around her was so dense it created a localized weather system, kicking up a cyclone of dust and loose stone. Her skin, now the color of polished obsidian and etched with molten gold tattoos, pulsed with a rhythm that felt less like a heartbeat and more like a war drum.
Nathan activated [Hunter's Insight], but immediately had to squeeze his eyes shut. Looking directly at Amara's mana signature was like staring into the sun. She wasn't channeling a dozen spirits anymore; she had physically merged with them. Centuries of martial arts, spellcasting, and battle instincts were currently crammed into one human vessel.
"She's redlining," Elise yelled over the roar of the wind, her breath pluming white as she raised her staff. "A human body can't contain a legion! She's going to burn herself out!"
