Chapter 75 - Chapter 75: Whis’s Invitation

"Ohoho! Little fellow, not only are you powerful, but you have a silver tongue as well. To have such strength at your age is truly impressive. No wonder Frieza and the others were no match for you."

"Little friend Qin Yan, there is no need to be nervous. I was simply curious about what kind of sacred being could defeat Frieza, so I came to have a look for myself."

After a brief silence, Whis saw through Qin Yan's unease and let out a lighthearted laugh.

Whis's sudden laughter was like a refreshing breeze natural and easygoing. It made one feel comfortable and involuntarily sense a strange kind of proximity to him.

Qin Yan's racing heart finally eased a little. As expected of such a powerhouse, he had seen through Qin Yan's strength with a single glance.

From Whis's words, Qin Yan realized his previous guesses were correct. This being had indeed noticed something was amiss and followed the clues right to his doorstep.

Judging by Whis's sudden appearance, he must have arrived on Planet Prodaranafak quite some time ago. He had likely been observing from a short distance and only showed himself after confirming Qin Yan was his target. The fact that Qin Yan hadn't sensed him at all was terrifying.

"I wouldn't dare claim to be a sacred being," Qin Yan replied humbly. "I have merely achieved some minor success in my cultivation and developed a few special abilities. Defeating Frieza and his men was a stroke of luck. I don't have the merit or ability to claim such status before you."

Qin Yan understood exactly what Whis meant by "sacred being" he was subtly hinting that he hadn't been able to see Qin Yan through his own celestial observation. Otherwise, a mere Frieza wouldn't have been enough to warrant a personal trip from Whis.

However, Qin Yan didn't give a direct answer, instead vaguely attributing everything to his special abilities. After all, the vast universe was full of mysteries and eccentric experts; having one or two unique powers was hardly unheard of.

"Hahaha! You are quite modest, little friend!"

Whis gave a mysterious smile and didn't press Qin Yan any further. Everyone had their secrets. He found this little fellow quite interesting; Qin Yan wasn't powerful enough to be a threat to them, and he didn't seem evil. On the contrary, it was highly likely he could be of help in the future.

Whis then studied Qin Yan thoughtfully, narrowing his eyes from time to time with a cryptic smile and nodding to himself.

Whis's prying gaze made Qin Yan's skin crawl. He couldn't help but wonder if an Angel like Whis had some strange interest in children. If so, that would be truly horrifying.

Of course, Qin Yan was only half-joking. He didn't believe Whis was that kind of person; the Angel was clearly plotting something.

Please don't let it be anything bad or troublesome! Qin Yan prayed silently, hoping things would turn out for the best and that he wouldn't be dragged into a mess. Heavenly spirits, Earthly spirits! Tathagata Buddha! Jade Emperor! Bodhisattva, please protect me!

"Hehehe! With his natural talent, he might actually surpass Lord Beerus before long with just a little cultivation and guidance. If I train this little fellow up to be stronger than Lord Beerus,

I wonder what his face will look like when he wakes up. It really is a tantalizing thought," Whis mused to himself, standing still and deep in thought, unaware of Qin Yan's internal panic.

Whis had indeed taken a liking to Qin Yan's potential. For someone to reach such a level through solitary cultivation at such a young age proved his talent was extraordinary. Whis's desire to nurture such talent had been piqued.

After a few moments of reflection, Whis returned to his usual calm and airy demeanor. He looked at Qin Yan with a warm gaze and spoke softly.

"Are you interested in..."

However, before Whis could finish his sentence—

Thud!! Qin Yan, who had been on edge, suddenly collapsed to the ground.

Qin Yan's abrupt reaction left Whis baffled. Confused about what had happened, he asked, "Little friend Qin Yan, what's wrong? Are you alright?"

"Cough, cough! It's nothing, Mr. Whis. I just accidentally choked. Please, continue."

It was a case of fearing the worst and having it come true. Qin Yan stood up, adjusted himself, and quickly forced a smile. He made up an excuse so pathetic even a dog wouldn't believe it to stall for time, signaling for Whis to keep talking.

"Ohoho, I see!" Whis smiled, covering his mouth with his hand as if he understood perfectly. He then continued, "Well, it's like this: are you interested in coming with me to the Sacred World of the Destruction God? I can guide your cultivation. Rest assured, I am the master of the God of Destruction, Lord Beerus. With my guidance, I guarantee your strength will grow rapidly."

The moment Whis finished speaking, Qin Yan froze in place, utterly stunned.

"Hiss! So that's what this is."

Qin Yan was beyond surprised. He never expected such a stroke of good fortune. Whis actually wanted to take him as a disciple and guide his training! He had assumed Whis was going to toss an anomaly like him into some dark, forgotten corner of the universe.

"Phew!"

Qin Yan let out a long breath, calming his nerves. As long as he wasn't being sent off to do something dangerous or bizarre, he was fine.

However, he was still curious. Why would Whis suddenly invite him to the Sacred World of the Destruction God and offer personal guidance? There had to be a catch.

"Hello? Little friend Qin Yan? What do you think?"

Seeing Qin Yan staring blankly, Whis called out his name softly.

"Ah! Oh! I'm here, Mr. Whis."

Whis's voice brought Qin Yan back to reality, though he still found the whole situation hard to believe as he gave a wooden reply.

"What do you think of my proposal, little friend?" Whis asked again with a smile, finding Qin Yan more and more amusing.

"Mr. Whis, this caught me completely off guard. It's so incredible that I lost my train of thought for a second. My apologies," Qin Yan laughed, quickly offering his excuses.

"Hahaha! It's no matter. You still haven't told me: do you want to go?" Whis spoke warmly, appearing quite understanding.

Qin Yan fell into deep thought once more. Then, his gaze sharpened as he looked at Whis. "Mr. Whis, I would be honored to train in the Sacred World of the Destruction God. However, I still have some matters to attend to here. I wonder if I might finish my business first before joining you?"

After speaking, Qin Yan watched Whis with a bit of trepidation, fearing his answer might cause offense. If Whis got angry, Qin Yan knew he would be in serious trouble.

"Hahaha! That is perfectly fine. Little friend Qin Yan, take this communication device. When you are finished, use it to contact me, and I will come to bring you to the Sacred World of the Destruction God."

Whis was momentarily surprised by the request but quickly burst into laughter. He was satisfied as long as Qin Yan agreed; he believed the boy wouldn't go back on his word. As he spoke, Whis lightly waved his scepter.

A purple, bowl-sized disc flew toward Qin Yan.

"Alright! Thank you, Mr. Whis. Truly, thank you. I will make sure to keep it safe."

Qin Yan caught the device and examined it briefly. It wasn't very heavy and looked quite similar to the one Bulma used to contact Whis in the original story.

Seeing the device in Qin Yan's hands, Whis smiled. His goal for this trip had been accomplished, and it was time to head back. "Well then, I shall be going."

"Don't forget to contact me, little friend."

Before Qin Yan could even respond, Whis tapped his scepter against the void. Instantly, a golden halo appeared around his feet, with countless golden particles dancing rapidly within the ring.

Snapping out of his daze, Qin Yan looked at the glowing Whis and shouted back, "I definitely will, Mr. Whis!"

Whis gave a satisfied smile and waved goodbye. Qin Yan waved back.

A moment later, Whis transformed into a pillar of Nine-Colored Divine Light and soared into the sky, rushing into the void. His figure left a vibrant, multicolored trail across the heavens. Only after the light vanished into the horizon did Qin Yan finally look away.
