"The Green Goblin?"
Lucas was genuinely surprised.
Previously, since Osborn Industries hadn't participated in the scramble for Kryptonian technology, Lucas had more or less forgotten about them.
On top of that, the Green Goblin's strength wasn't particularly impressive.
Much like Batman, he relied almost entirely on high-tech equipment and intelligence.
Among the many powerful heroes and villains, his presence was frankly quite weak.
So Lucas didn't rush to intervene.
Instead, he quietly followed along to see how things would play out.
---
"Boss, they're here."
The monkey-masked kidnapper whispered into the leader's ear.
"Alright. Leave four people here. The rest come with me."
At the leader's command, the five or six kidnappers who had only recently regained consciousness felt as if they'd been pardoned.
They quickly picked up their weapons and followed behind him—
not daring to look at Carrie even once, as if she were some terrifying demon.
Meanwhile, Carrie was happily eating.
As long as her stomach wasn't empty and her classmates weren't in danger, she had nothing to worry about.
---
"Hand it over!"
The kidnapper leader snarled through a tiger mask.
Around him and on elevated positions stood more than a dozen fully armed kidnappers in body armor.
"We won't hand anything over unless we see the young master,"
the neatly groomed butler replied calmly.
"Then I'll have my men kill your young master right now," the leader threatened.
"Then I'll activate the self-destruct mechanism," the butler said with a gentlemanly smile.
"And none of you will get what you want."
The two sides stared each other down for several seconds.
Finally, the kidnapper leader spoke into his radio:
"Bring the Osborn kid here."
---
Soon, Harry Osborn was dragged into the transaction area.
"Now you can give me the item, right?"
The leader chuckled darkly.
The butler clapped his hands.
One of the suited bodyguards brought forward a metal case and handed it to him.
The butler opened it skillfully, displaying its contents.
"Throw it over!"
The kidnapper leader shouted, gripping Harry and pressing a gun into his back.
The butler crouched slightly and slid the case across the floor.
A clown-masked kidnapper caught it, pulled out a specialized liquid-analysis device, and fitted it over his mask's eye lens.
After inspecting it, he nodded.
"It's real. This is what we want."
"Excellent."
The leader grinned.
"But I've changed my mind."
"I want another one—same item. Fifteen minutes."
"Otherwise, I kill him."
"You're playing with fire," the butler warned coldly.
"I have the hostage. I play however I want!"
The leader laughed loudly.
Before the butler could respond, Norman Osborn's voice suddenly echoed in the earpieces of all the black-suited operatives.
"Do it."
The butler's pupils shrank.
In one swift motion, he crossed his arms and flipped up his suit jacket—
Two large-caliber pistols appeared in his hands.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Before the kidnappers could react, the butler had already fired.
Behind him, ten suited guards drew their pistols simultaneously.
In a deafening volley of gunfire, more than twenty kidnappers dropped—
each shot in an unarmored area, collapsing without resistance.
The butler holstered his pistols and moved to retrieve Harry.
---
Then—
The kidnappers who had fallen to the ground stood back up.
"What the—?"
The butler's expression changed instantly, but his feet were already moving.
No matter what bizarre phenomenon was happening, his priority was protecting Harry.
"Sorry to disappoint you!"
The kidnapper leader and his men straightened fully.
The bullet holes in their throats were already sealing themselves,
repaired by swirling red energy.
"Withdraw!"
The butler grabbed Harry's arm, yanked a flash grenade from his belt, pulled the pin with his teeth, and threw it.
Boom!
As the flash detonated, he dragged the stunned Harry forward, rolling across the floor before scrambling back to his feet.
"You're not leaving today!"
The leader raised his gun and aimed.
---
Just as he was about to pull the trigger—
The warehouse roof exploded.
A figure burst through the opening above.
At the same time, pale golden spheres rained down from the sky.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The spheres detonated before the kidnappers could react.
Blinding light and shockwaves filled the warehouse—
And this time, the kidnappers returned fire.
Their rifles didn't sound like ordinary firearms.
Instead, they emitted a constant electromagnetic hum.
When the bullets struck the reinforced walls, they punched deep craters straight through.
The Green Goblin's glider ignited its thrusters as he began evasive maneuvers.
But these kidnappers weren't ordinary men.
They fired ahead of his movement, and bullets slammed into his armor.
Sparks erupted as the high-strength alloy plating dented and warped.
Against normal firearms, this armor would barely show a scratch.
Now it was being visibly damaged.
The Green Goblin's body shook violently under the impact.
If not for the glider's stabilization system, he would have already been shot down.
---
As the butler shielded Harry and reached the exit—
The warehouse doors slammed shut.
Locks engaged automatically.
"Hahaha! No one's leaving today!"
The leader roared.
Bang!
An armor-piercing round struck the Green Goblin's shoulder.
Even high-grade alloy couldn't withstand it—
a hole was blown clean through.
The Green Goblin fell from the glider and crashed onto the ground.
"Damn it… who the hell are these people?"
The helmet opened, revealing Norman Osborn's tightly furrowed brow.
No matter how hard he thought, he couldn't figure out who had sent them.
Every time he was hit, the flesh around the wound glowed like molten lava—
rapidly regenerating and sealing itself.
And their weapons…
Their power was far beyond standard-issue firearms.
Judging by their performance, Norman even suspected Gauss-type electromagnetic weaponry.
The kidnappers stopped firing and slowly closed in, guns trained on Osborn's people.
"Go on," the leader sneered.
"Weren't you acting tough just now?"
