Elemental beings like Surtur—especially after absorbing a pure elemental treasure such as the Eternal Flame—were clearly not ordinary life forms.
Because of that, Lucas immediately targeted Surtur's true core.
In the films, Surtur ultimately perished together with Asgard, which meant one thing: he was killable. He had a weakness.
For a being of such colossal size, having vulnerable physical organs would be laughably crude.
That left two possibilities.
Either Surtur's entire physical body was his weakness—
Much like Hela, who would perish the moment Asgard was destroyed—
Or Surtur possessed a hidden core, similar to many elemental life forms.
Lucas chose to search for the latter first.
After blasting away the defensive flames around Surtur's head with a concentrated energy blast, Lucas immediately expanded his ki perception to probe for anomalies within Surtur's body.
And he found one.
Deep within Surtur's massive head was an energy mass of extraordinarily high density.
Whether it was the core or not no longer mattered.
Lucas reacted instantly.
At maximum speed, he condensed an energy bomb and hurled it straight into Surtur's mouth.
Humm—
In the next instant, the sky was flooded with blinding white light.
The massive energy sphere expanded explosively, engulfing Surtur's entire head in the blink of an eye.
Even a body as terrifying as Surtur's could not withstand an internal detonation of that magnitude.
The explosion came and went in an instant.
When the light finally dissipated, Surtur's head was gone—completely annihilated—leaving behind only the dark, jagged bone at the center of his brow.
His enormous body froze in place, stiff and motionless, as if all vitality had vanished.
"Nice!"
Thor couldn't help but shout in excitement.
But he quickly realized something was wrong.
Odin, Frigga, and Hela were all still watching silently, their expressions unchanged.
"The fight's over, isn't it?" Thor asked hesitantly.
This time, Odin did not answer.
Instead, Hela spoke.
"If you had even the slightest ability to sense energy," she said coldly,
"you'd notice that although Surtur's head is gone, his energy fluctuations haven't stopped."
"In other words—he's probably not dead."
Thor froze, then nodded in realization.
"But then… why did Lucas stop attacking?" he asked again.
Odin was starting to wonder if Thor was truly his biological son.
Hela, meanwhile, was genuinely irritated—but still answered patiently.
"Because Lucas is confirming Surtur's true weakness."
She was absolutely right.
Lucas had not attacked again because he was scanning Surtur's body in detail.
Despite the apparent destruction, Lucas could clearly sense that energy was still present.
He pushed his perception to the limit, sweeping over Surtur's massive body—now dark, hardened, and ash-gray, like cooled magma.
And then—
Nothing.
There was no high-density energy core anywhere.
Lucas's eyes narrowed.
"So that's how it is."
The core theory was instantly discarded.
At that moment, Surtur's body suddenly ignited again, flames roaring back to life.
Lucas immediately sensed the abnormal reaction within Surtur's form and finally understood.
"So it's this kind of existence…"
"As long as the flames burn, eternity does not end!"
Surtur's enraged roar echoed across the skies of Asgard.
Lucas snorted coldly and vanished.
In the next instant, he appeared directly above Surtur's head.
Clasping both hands together, Lucas gathered his ki at maximum speed—
And slammed down with a double-fisted hammer strike.
The impact was like a nuclear detonation.
A massive shockwave rippled outward, obliterating the clouds and completely clearing the skies above Asgard.
Even Thor was blasted backward by the aftershock.
Frigga was shielded by Odin and remained unharmed.
Hela, of course, stood her ground without moving an inch.
Surtur, however, lost all balance and crashed down in a humiliating sprawl, smashing into the ground face-first.
Lucas did not follow up with another strike.
Instead, he extended both hands toward Surtur's fallen body.
A vast surge of energy poured from his palms, spreading rapidly across Surtur's form.
In a single breath, a translucent energy membrane completely wrapped around Surtur's body.
"Up!"
Lucas roared.
In the next instant, Surtur's thousand-meter-tall body was lifted into the air as if seized by an invisible colossal hand.
"He's planning to—" Odin frowned.
"He's using that move," Hela said, eyes widening.
"The one from the Hell Planet."
As they spoke, Lucas had already carried Surtur high into the sky.
Surtur began to revive again, struggling violently—but within Lucas's energy bindings, escape was impossible.
The two shot upward at extreme speed.
Moments later, they burst through the atmosphere and entered the vacuum of space.
After putting sufficient distance between them and Asgard, Lucas looked at Surtur and grinned.
"Perfect timing," he said.
"You'll be the test subject for my revised technique."
The next second—
Lucas's body erupted in blinding light.
From Asgard below, Odin and the others saw a tiny point of light suddenly appear in the void above.
Within just two seconds, that point expanded to the size of a fist, its radiance growing unbearably intense.
"Is that… self-destruction?" Odin frowned.
"No," Hela said firmly.
"He told me this move is called—Supernova."
"Supernova…" Odin murmured.
"A fitting name."
Asgard's technology and rune science were advanced enough for Odin to understand exactly what a supernova meant.
By now, the light had expanded from fist-sized to the size of a watermelon.
Asgard had no sun of its own—its illumination came from rune-powered energy systems.
Yet at this moment, Lucas's Supernova became a blazing sun, lighting up the entirety of Asgard.
The radiance lasted for more than two full minutes before finally fading away.
The instant it ended, Hela launched herself into space.
Odin's winged steed surged forward without a word, carrying Odin and Frigga after her—
All rushing toward the silent void where the Supernova had just bloomed.
