Peter and the ten men and women behind him froze where they stood. None of them had fully recovered from the moment that roar sounded through the space.
Their bodies still reacted before their minds could catch up. Their shoulders stayed tense and their fingers remained locked around their weapons.
A few of them had unconsciously taken a step back earlier and even now they hadn't moved forward again. It felt as if an invisible chill had seeped into their bones and refused to leave.
Their eyes stayed fixed on Red.
His face was still twisted into a snarl. Veins faintly visible along his neck as his breathing came out slow and heavy.
For a short moment, something far worse revealed itself. His eyes become completely black. Not dark or just shadowed, but utterly black, swallowing any trace of humanity within them.
It only lasted for a couple of seconds. Then it returned back to normal. The blackness faded, replaced by his normal eyes again as if nothing had happened.
