Long Tian walked out of the company at closing time.
He had spent less than two hours inside, most of it taken up by the interview. Tomorrow would be his first official day.
By the time he stepped out, news about him had already spread through the building. The man recommended by the CEO—and a sales representative at that—had become the topic of quiet discussion.
Eyes followed him as he made his way out. A few employees tried to stop him from asking questions, but he brushed them off and kept walking.
He hailed a taxi and headed home.
When the car reached the junction near Ice Snow Estate, he didn't get off at the usual spot. Instead, he asked the driver to stop a short distance away.
He preferred not to reveal his exact location.
The evening streets were quiet as he walked.
A few steps later, his eyes sharpened slightly.
Footsteps. Not one. Not two. Seven.
They weren't even trying to hide it well.
