As Corviknight flew, David and his Pokémon quickly arrived at the edge of the city.
Upon reaching the designated location, David got out of the taxi. The area ahead was no longer accessible by taxi, so he had to find his own way to proceed.
This was probably one of the reasons why the Burned Tower was so desolate. Many tourists likely saw this and, finding it too troublesome, simply gave up on visiting.
After all, Treasure City had plenty of other places to visit. This place was not only remote but also couldn't be reached directly by car, so it was understandable that many people just gave up.
The only problem was that getting here was simply too much hassle.
Otherwise, since this place was connected to Legendary Pokémon, if it were in the city, everyone would probably not mind spending some time to visit.
After getting out of the car, David took out the folding bicycle he had bought in advance. He had long wanted to experience traveling by bike like Ash and his friends.
David had prepared this folding bicycle long before the winter break began.
He had to say, this spatial backpack was truly incredible technology! It could even fit a bicycle, and when carried, you could barely feel any weight.
Upon arriving in the wild, David was initially conflicted about which Pokémon to have out to protect his safety.
However, upon seeing David take out the bicycle, the little fox's eyes darted around, revealing a sly smile, and it swiftly scampered into the front basket of the bicycle to wait.
"Zorua~" The little fox seemed to declare that it would protect David's safety.
Neither Lucario nor Kirlia could fit in that spot—only the unevolved little fox could stay there.
Seeing this, Kirlia could only return to her Poké Ball, clearly disappointed.
She didn't want to compete with Zorua for the "bodyguard" position.
Watching his Pokémon play around, David merely smiled. After recalling Lucario and Kirlia to their Poké Balls, he spoke to the little fox waiting in front.
"Hold on tight, Zorua, we're off."
With that, he pedaled the bicycle, speeding forward.
Soon, as David ventured deeper, traces of human life became increasingly scarce, and various large trees and bushes suddenly appeared in abundance.
Eventually, apart from the path beneath his feet, there were no other signs of human civilization.
David took out his phone and checked. He was already nearly five kilometers from the city, effectively in the wild, and just a stone's throw away from the Burned Tower's location on the map.
No wonder there were no signs of human activity besides the road beneath his feet.
It's important to know that the wilderness in the Pokémon world is very different from that of the old Earth, primarily in terms of vegetation coverage.
Due to the integration of Secret Realms, the Blue Star in the Pokémon world is much, much larger in area than the Earth of the past.
And these newly added lands have almost all retained their pristine appearance, untouched by any development.
Traces of human technology, apart from roads, railways, ships, and airplanes used for transportation, mostly exist only within a few kilometers of residential areas.
And to maintain these constructed road infrastructures, the Alliance invests an untold amount of manpower and resources each year.
Generally speaking, at locations five or ten kilometers from a city, there are usually corresponding warning signs.
Going further out means entering the wilderness, which is the domain of Pokémon.
It is very dangerous for ordinary people to enter the wilderness alone, and the Alliance strictly prohibits such behavior.
Generally speaking, in this world, only a type of person called a Trainer would wander around the wilderness for no particular reason.
"Zorua, let's be careful from now on."
"Zorua~ Zorua!" Hearing David's words, the little fox patted its chest to assure him, its adorable demeanor almost making David laugh out loud.
"Alright! My safety is entirely in your paws."
Soon, after advancing for a few more minutes, the distant, fire-scorched, ruined spire of the Burned Tower came into David's view.
"Zorua, it looks like we're almost there."
Speeding up, David and his Pokémon quickly arrived in front of the Burned Tower.
For some unknown reason, the land here looked exceptionally desolate, as if even trees and flowers were unwilling to grow here.
The traces of the great fire remained on this land, enduring for an unknown length of time without dissipating.
Upon reaching their destination, David also released Lucario and Kirlia.
One person and three Pokémon walked to the front of the Burned Tower.
Although it was merely the crumbling ruins left after a fire, David was still shocked.
The Burned Tower in reality and the Burned Tower in the game, despite sharing the same name, were completely different structures, save for a somewhat similar outline.
The ruins before him were fifteen stories high, and each floor was not the three meters high of modern houses.
By David's estimation, each floor of the Burned Tower's ruins was at least seven or eight meters tall. Not to mention anything else, including the spire, this tower stood well over a hundred meters high.
A height of one or two hundred meters is not much now, but one must remember this is an ancient building.
This was only possible with the help of Pokémon power—otherwise, building a hundred-meter-tall structure in ancient times would be nothing but a pipe dream.
"This makes sense. After all, it's a place for worshipping legendary Pokémon. If this tower were as tiny as it is in the game, it would be too unfitting for the status of Ho-Oh and Lugia."
"Let's go. There's probably no one else here. Let's go inside and take a look." With that, he lifted his leg, intending to enter the interior of the Burned Tower.
David walked around the Burned Tower and found no one else besides them.
Upon entering, David realized that the first floor of the Burned Tower was surprisingly vast.
The interior of the Burned Tower was empty. Each floor was as large as a stadium—a vast, empty space where the echoes of the wind occasionally resounded.
After countless years, perhaps it was once filled with offerings to the legendary Pokémon, but now all has long vanished like smoke.
However, David did make some discoveries. He found many Ghost-type Pokémon hidden within the Burned Tower.
Like Gastly hiding in the shadows, and Mimikyu and Banette disguised as discarded dolls in a corner.
However, when they saw the little fox in front of David, they all very sensibly hid to the side.
David hadn't planned to catch these Pokémon anyway, so their hiding to the side suited his intentions perfectly.
And besides these Ghost-type Pokémon, David and his group found nothing else.
That's right—after so many years, even if there were truly valuable items, they would have long been taken away by others.
David originally wanted to see if he could find clues about the three Legendary Beasts here, but unfortunately, this place seemed to have been abandoned for a long time, and the three Legendary Beasts probably hadn't returned here in a long time either.
"Let's go! We'll head up and take a look."
With that, David walked toward the stairs, but just then, in a corner they hadn't noticed, a shadow seemed to be quietly wriggling.
