The guy who got out of the vehicle, dressed like some mysterious operative, didn't let out a sinister laugh. Instead, he directly asked David, who was disguised as Brother Quin:
"What are you doing? Why are you alone? Where's the merchandise? I've found a good buyer for you this time..."
As soon as the man spoke, David understood that this secretive individual was Mr. K, as mentioned by these poachers.
"Mr. K? This is probably a codename within some organization."
"Using letters as codenames? I haven't heard of an organization like that! Never mind, I'll test him out first."
David thought to himself, but his face remained impassive as he replied:
"The merchandise is still in the cave. The time limit is too tight. Some newly caught Pokémon haven't been fully packed yet. Everyone else is inside, rushing to pack them!"
David's eyes darted around, and a ready answer naturally spilled out, also explaining why he was the only one outside.
"From his tone, this guy's status should be higher than this so-called Brother Quin, but I wonder how he compares to the unseen leader of the organization."
David analyzed.
Figuring out who leads this poaching group is a very important question.
If Mr. K is in charge, it means this poaching organization is merely a subordinate group completely obedient to others.
In that case, it suggests that some unknown organization has quietly extended its reach into the territory of Cloudspire.
David should report this information immediately for handling.
However, if the unseen poaching leader is in charge, then it can be confirmed that the two parties are merely in a cooperative relationship.
From the information gathered earlier, it is known that this poaching organization has only about thirty to forty members in total.
Besides the leader, there are two other bosses, and Brother Quin, who was almost killed by Pyroar's strike, is one of them.
The other is Brother Hua, mentioned by the two earlier. Although the strength of Brother Hua and the organization's leader is still unknown, from what could be gleaned from Brother Qiang just now, he should be decent among poachers, but that's all.
In front of truly large transnational criminal organizations, such a poaching group is nothing more than negligible small fry.
And if they can't even gain the upper hand against such small fry, then it can only mean that either Mr. K's organization is also not strong, or there's only one other possibility: they have their own goals that they haven't told these poachers.
"Go, a few of you go inside and help them. Be quick, don't waste time, understood?"
"Yes!"
Mr. K didn't suspect anything. After hearing David's words, he told his subordinates in the vehicle to go help.
He wasn't psychic—how could he have imagined that the "Brother Quin" in front of him had actually been replaced by someone else, who was now deceiving him?
Upon hearing Mr. K's command, a reply immediately came from the vehicle, and then several people quickly disembarked.
David subtly observed the people who got out.
They looked somewhat dull, dressed in simple black uniforms, appearing like ordinary office workers.
But if one observed carefully, they would notice that these individuals moved in a remarkably uniform manner and showed clear signs of professional training in every gesture.
Such people might seem unremarkable to the untrained eye, but in reality, they were probably much stronger than the outwardly tough but inwardly weak poachers David had dealt with before.
"Interesting..."
David's heart stirred. It seemed he had caught a rather big fish today—an unexpected bonus!
After receiving Mr. K's command, those few individuals immediately hurried into the cave.
David and Mr. K, however, followed unhurriedly behind.
"How many Pokémon are there this time, including the newly caught young ones? Are there any high-quality ones among the new arrivals...?"
Along the way, Mr. K asked David about the specifics of the captured Pokémon cubs.
"In total, including the latest captures, there should be fifty-six."
"In terms of quality, the only true purple aptitude ones are still the two Litleo, the offspring of the Gym-level Pyroar. However, among the newly caught batch, there's a blue-purple Clefairy and a blue-purple Teddiursa."
All the Pokémon held captive here had been personally rescued by him not long ago, so he naturally knew all this information.
Facing Mr. K's questions, David answered with ease.
As for the Pokémon's aptitudes, with the system, David didn't need any data—he could understand everything clearly with just a glance.
Speaking of which, the captured cubs were not only popular Pokémon, but their aptitudes were also generally quite good, with an average level reaching blue.
However, this was also the limit that ordinary wild Pokémon could reach at the young stage in most cases. The only two whose aptitudes truly crossed into the purple stage were still the two Litleo.
After all, at the end of the day, Pokémon are creatures highly dependent on bloodline. Pokémon with weak parents are not necessarily weak, but Pokémon with strong parents are very likely to be strong.
After hearing David's reply, Mr. K showed no particular reaction. He paused, nodded slightly, and continued walking toward the cave.
The two of them walked one after the other, chatting idly, gradually returning to the cave.
Because the environment inside the cave was already very complex, and remembering that another group of criminals would be coming, David had all the Pokémon that had not yet been taken away hide on the other side of the cave.
That was where these poachers temporarily lived—the environment was decent enough, and it was worlds apart from where these Pokémon had been previously held. When David closed the door to catch them, he wouldn't have to worry about accidentally harming them.
That's right, it was a trap.
David's purpose in luring these guys into the cave was to capture them all in one fell swoop.
The place where the Pokémon were held was a good spot, so once he tricked them all inside, as long as David blocked the entrance, he naturally wouldn't have to worry about any getting away.
Originally, David was worried that if he was alone, it would be bad if some poachers escaped.
But at that moment, David had a flash of inspiration and came up with an idea: to use Zorua's illusion ability to disguise himself as one of these poachers' accomplices.
This would not only eliminate their possibility of escape but also allow him to extract information from the so-called Mr. K.
Inside the cave, just as David was still thinking about how to continue extracting more information from Mr. K, suddenly, all the hairs on David's body stood on end. An indescribable sense of oppression surged into his heart, and a dangerous feeling of suffocation instantly spread throughout his body, causing him to involuntarily stop in his tracks.
