Chapter 149 - Chapter 149: Leisurely Moments at the Kamisato Estate

Should she go in and disturb them at a time like this?

Little Eula fell into thought.

Mm… if she moves lightly and quietly, it should be fine, right?

Little Eula looked at the lazy Kirara lying beside the middle-aged uncle.

Then she tiptoed over to the middle-aged uncle's side.

Oh~ So he's asleep. No wonder he's accepting little Ayaka's lap pillow.

And he's sleeping so soundly…

Little Eula sat down beside the middle-aged uncle but didn't make any particular moves.

Little Ayaka, however, still noticed big sister Eula approaching. She lifted her head, looked at big sister Eula, and smiled.

Caught, little Eula felt a little embarrassed, so she simply sat down next to little Ayaka to read the fairy tale book along with her, while casually reaching out a finger to poke and rub the middle-aged uncle's cheek.

"Sprout! Sprout! Grow up quickly! If you don't grow up fast, we'll use sharp scissors to cut your sprout right off!"

Little Ayaka's voice was very pleasant to listen to. Even when reading threatening lines, there was an indescribable softness or childish innocence to it.

Then, at this point, little Ayato also finished his homework and came out. Yes, the poor heir always had assignments to complete.

For example, today's analysis of the meeting with the Raiden Shogun: how to methodically strip the higher-ups of their money bit by bit, while making sure they didn't dare act rashly for the time being and still harbored the naive hope that paying once would be the end of it…

It could only be said that as a big child, little Ayato was making tremendous sacrifices for the sake of the Kamisato Clan head's eventual peaceful retirement.

"Hm? The middle-aged uncle is actually enjoying my little sister's lap pillow?"

Upon arriving in the living room and seeing this scene, little Ayato paused his casual stroll toward his sister.

Little Ayato didn't think too much of it; he was simply curious and walked over, only to discover that the middle-aged uncle was already fast asleep.

Little Ayaka then held a finger to her lips toward her brother in a careful "shh~" gesture, signaling quiet.

As a good older brother, little Ayato naturally complied with little Ayaka's request. He moved quietly and lightly, walking behind little Ayaka, bending down and crouching to see the title of the fairy tale she was reading.

The Monkey and the Crab

This fairy tale wasn't particularly complicated. It mainly told the story of a monkey who found a persimmon seed on the road and traded it for the crab's rice ball.

The monkey immediately ate the rice ball, while the crab planted the seed in its yard, took good care of it, and nurtured it until it grew into a persimmon tree.

When the persimmons ripened, the monkey climbed the tree alone to eat them and even domineeringly threw persimmons at the crab to hit it.

The next day, the crab's good friend came to visit, learned what had happened, became extremely angry, and severely punished the monkey.

The monkey was eventually subdued through virtuous retribution, realized its mistake, apologized to the crab family, and helped pick the persimmons. Everyone forgave it (free labor), and from then on, they lived in peace.

It could be said that this fairy tale was quite a classic one.

The moral given in the fairy tale book was to teach people not to be greedy, to keep promises, and at the same time to emphasize the power of friendship—friends help each other and face difficulties together.

However, what little Ayato saw was simply that the monkey had been beaten into submission. The solution was straightforward and brutal.

If the crab family had no friends, wouldn't the result have been that the monkey kept bullying the crab family forever?

It could only be said that, based on today's homework, they first needed to make friends with some of the relatively lower-level people inside the Kujou Clan and the Hiiragi Clan…

Then let this group of clean friends replace the ones who had become dirty… This would be much easier and cause far less collateral damage than the Kamisato Clan crushing them head-on… It could also reduce the trouble of finding capable people…

Little Ayato shook his head.

Seriously, why has he started liking to think about the adult world so much now? Doesn't it get tiring?

Little Ayato also crouched down and sat beside the middle-aged uncle.

You've been busy dealing with the adult world all day today. It really has been troublesome for you, middle-aged uncle.
