The next morning.
8:55 AM.
The Pokémon of the Breeding House were all gathered in front of the counter. Mime Jr., Alcremie, and Gothitelle in particular looked as if they were facing a great enemy, staring intently at the rotom phone floating in the air.
The rotom phone had been delivered to Lucas yesterday. Lucas had installed a few mini-programs so that the rotom phone would broadcast whenever a customer placed an order.
Lucas was lying leisurely on a lounge chair in the rest area. Ninetales lay on the floor beside him, its tails gently draped over his body.
Seeing them looking so tense, Lucas couldn't help but laugh.
"Relax, it's not like we won't be able to handle the workload. Why do you all look like you're about to get into a fight?"
Gengar glanced at Lucas, then turned its gaze back to the clock on the counter, watching the time closely.
8:58 AM.
"Don't worry, didn't we prepare so many things early this morning? There's no need to worry."
Lucas picked up the teacup beside him, took a sip of hot tea, and said leisurely.
Shhh~
Gengar thought Lucas was being too noisy and directly told him to shut up.
Looking at the group of Pokémon, Lucas submissively shrunk his neck.
8:59 AM.
All the Pokémon in the Breeding House stared intently at the second hand.
Ding~
9:00 AM.
All was calm.
Gengar breathed a sigh of relief.
Seeing this, Lucas stood up, hands on his hips, and laughed loudly. "See, what did I tell you? How could the orders possibly explode all at once? You guys still didn't believe—"
"I—"
"You have a new order to process. Number 13, 1st Street, Twinleaf Town. Needs two servings of Gengar Eterna Pudding."
"You have a new order to process. Number 32, 12th Street, Twinleaf Town. Needs one serving of Rice with Toppings. Note:"
"Extra rice, please~"
"You have a new order to process. Number 12, 6th Street, Twinleaf Town. Needs one serving of hot ginger tea, twelve Lilligant mini-breads, and six Lilligant Grass Puddings."
"You have a new order—"
"You have a new order—"
"You have a new—"
"You—"
Lucas finished what he was saying. By this time, Alcremie had already run into the kitchen, and Mime Jr. and Gothitelle had returned to the Canteen.
Mr. and Mrs. Fujino were hurrying to pack the delivery orders, handing them to Psyduck or Azumarill, who wore yellow hats and messenger bags. They took the packed food, placed it gently into their bags, checked their maps, gave a quick greeting, and then sprinted off.
"Gwa~"
"Marill!"
A Trainer from Sandgem Town was passing by the Breeding House when he noticed Pokémon, each wearing the same yellow messenger bag and a hat with a yellow Gengar logo, coming out of the Breeding House and speeding off toward Twinleaf Town.
"What... what's going on here?"
The Trainer was stunned.
"Are they going to a fight?"
After saying that, he looked curiously into the Breeding House, only to see a person fly up into the air as a Gothitelle tossed him through a door.
"Hiss—"
Gothitelle, who had come back from the Canteen to the Breeding House to get ingredients, saw Lucas still standing in the rest area dazed. Hearing the sounds of Alcremie's frantic activity in the kitchen, she directly used psychic power to toss Lucas into the kitchen.
"Goth!"
Can't you see the kitchen is overwhelmed? Still standing there dazed!
After tossing Lucas in, Gothitelle clapped her hands. Hearing a sharp intake of breath behind her, she turned and saw a Trainer. She flashed a smile.
"Goth?"
Is there anything you need?
Seeing the gentleness on Gothitelle's face and remembering the scene from just now, the Trainer's legs shook with fear, and he immediately took off running.
"I'm sorry—I didn't see anything!"
Gothitelle watched his retreating back and frowned. Something's wrong with that guy.
She then ignored the Trainer, returned to the kitchen to pick up the ingredients, and floated toward the Canteen.
She had sent Roserade to the Cottage today.
Having experienced the opening period of the Cottage, she had a hunch that today would be very busy, so she stayed behind.
Sure enough, her hunch was correct; they were incredibly busy.
Gothitelle floated back to the Canteen's kitchen and found that Mime Jr. was already using psychic power to make the pots spin so fast they were smoking.
In the Breeding House's kitchen, Gengar was assisting Lucas and Mime Jr.
Mime Jr.'s cream-whipping speed had already become a blur.
Lucas was busy baking bread.
Batch after batch of bread came fresh out of the oven. Gengar then carried them out, Mr. and Mrs. Fujino packed them, and then they were handed over to the delivery Pokémon.
The only sound left in the Breeding House now was the voice of the rotom phone broadcasting.
The first batch of Pokémon had already arrived at Twinleaf Town. They split up and headed to their respective assigned areas.
Knock, knock, knock.
The door opened, and a little girl saw Golduck standing at the door. Golduck gave her a friendly greeting, then pulled a packing box out of its bag. After checking the house number and confirming it matched, Golduck handed the box to the little girl.
The little girl took it in confusion, took a look, and shouted with eyes sparkling, "Mom, the pudding we bought is here!"
Soon, a mother came out. She looked at the box in her daughter's hand, somewhat surprised.
"So fast?"
She checked the time. It had been less than an hour, and it had already been delivered to her door?
Golduck smiled and nodded. Once the mother confirmed everything was correct, it turned to head to the next house, but the mother called out to it. She handed some snacks to Golduck. "Thank you for delivering this to us in such cold weather. You've worked hard."
Golduck was momentarily stunned, not knowing whether it should accept them.
Yesterday's training hadn't mentioned anything about getting paid.
Seeing this, the mother laughed, took Golduck's hand, and placed some money in its palm.
"It's okay. I used to give them something when they came to deliver herbal tea too. Don't worry, if he scolds you when you go back, tell me, and I'll teach him a lesson for you."
Only then did Golduck accept it, put it in its bag, and said thank you to the mother.
"Gwa~"
Then it hurried to the next house.
This situation wasn't unique to this Golduck; the Pokémon in other areas encountered it too. They all received some small tips for their hard work. For example, a Golduck currently had a lollipop in its mouth. Feeling the sweet taste and remembering the way that family had thanked it, the Golduck patted its own cheeks and then accelerated its pace.
Knock, knock, knock~
"Gwa~"
Your delivery is here, gwa.
The door opened—
Pokémon came and went from the Breeding House, and the Breeding House's kitchen was in full swing. This situation reached its peak at noon.
Seeing that Alcremie could handle the few desserts needed for lunch, Lucas nodded and went to the stove, lit the fire, poured oil, and started the wok.
Gengar and Lilligant were helping out—one cleaning meat ingredients, the other washing vegetables.
As Lucas expressionlessly tossed the wok and plated the food, portion after portion of fresh food came out. Marill and Psyduck took over the packing work, and Mr. and Mrs. Fujino also went to the Canteen's kitchen to help.
Lucas was like a soulless wok-tossing machine, the large wok rising and falling. Gengar thought it had seen wrong when it suddenly noticed a white gas above Lucas's head that looked just like him, only without legs.
It rubbed its eyes, and the Lucas above Lucas's head disappeared. It breathed a sigh of relief.
Just scaring myself.
Then it continued to help with the work.
That Trainer also arrived at Twinleaf Town. He saw the Pokémon running constantly on the streets. Although they ran very fast, they were exceptionally mindful of traffic rules—stopping at red lights and going on green.
Then he also saw them knock on the doors of houses, leave items at the entrance, and go.
"Is this... food delivery?"
The Trainer was dumbfounded.
"Is the service in Twinleaf Town already this advanced?"
