Lucas's screams echoed through the sky.
As everyone watched Regigigas regain its mobility, the earth began to shake once more.
Regigigas watched its three subordinates sustain numerous injuries just to Protect it, and a wave of emotion welled up within it.
It hadn't expected the "little figurines" it had casually fashioned to be so loyal.
"Regi!"
Don't worry, I will avenge you!
Having said that, it looked down at the people on the ground and swung its arms repeatedly, releasing the energy used to tow continents into its iron fists, causing a massive boulder to appear in the sky once again.
A massive Rock Slide descended from the heavens.
Lucas flew over on Latias and stopped in front of everyone.
"Ash, it really is up to you now."
Ash: ?
"But I tried twice just now, and it didn't work."
"I suspect it'll be on guard against Hypnosis now, so the only way left is you and Pikachu."
Lucas said.
Ash didn't hesitate for a moment. "Then I'll go try again."
Lucas nodded as Latias used Dragon Pulse to clear the Rock Slide above them.
The other Pokémon were also helping.
"We'll cover you, go quickly."
Ash picked up Pikachu and bolted.
"I'll leave this place to you all."
After speaking, Lucas flew into the air on Latias to draw Regigigas's attention.
Seeing Lucas and Latias, Regigigas began to manifest one Rock Slide after another.
Latias carried Lucas, dodging the falling rocks in the sky.
Gengar appeared above Regigigas's head and threw out a Dark Void.
Regigigas opened its palm and blocked it.
Gengar: Σ(°∀°)
Regigigas reached its palm toward Gengar.
Gengar opened a green protective barrier.
Regigigas's palm squeezed Gengar's barrier, forcefully crushing the Protect.
Gengar was terrified and slipped out from Regigigas's palm the instant the Protect was about to shatter.
It floated back to Lucas's side, patting its small chest in lingering fear.
"Gen gengar"
That scared this baby ghost to death.
"Gen gengar"
It's no good, it's starting to take precautions.
"It's fine, keep harassing it to create an opportunity for Ash and Pikachu."
Lucas grabbed Gengar's small hand, riding the red airplane to dodge Rock Slide after Rock Slide.
Gengar was like a flag fluttering in the air, drifting up and down as Lucas held its hand.
The people below were also coordinating their actions with Ash.
Infernape and Lucario cleared the way for Ash and Pikachu, smashing boulder after boulder.
Vespiquen and Dusknoir helped block the falling rocks from the sky.
Ash, with Pikachu, arrived before Regigigas once more and shouted at it, "Please stop, Regigigas!"
Regigigas seemed to hear Ash's response; it lowered its head and looked at Ash and Pikachu.
It seemed to sense some familiar Auras from Ash.
The Auras of some Pokémon it had seen a long time ago—
Regigigas hesitated for a moment, then raised its palm, clenched it into a fist, and slammed it down heavily.
Ash dodged. "It's not working, Lucas! What should I do now?!"
Hearing Ash's question, Lucas, who was struggling to dodge Rock Slides in the air, replied, "If all else fails, just give it a punch to wake it up properly."
Ash: ?!
That makes sense!
"Pikachu, hold on tight!"
"Pika pika!"
Ash ran to a mountain peak, looked at Regigigas before him, and without a moment's hesitation, jumped straight down.
"Regigigas!"
Regigigas looked up.
"Take this!"
"Pika!"
Pikachu used Thunder to cover Ash.
Lucas looked up at the sky full of dark clouds.
Is this f*cking Thunder?!
Watching Ash prepare to throw a punch, Lucas suddenly shouted.
"I choose you, Ash! Use Mega Punch!"
Ash: ?
Pikachu: ??
Regigigas: ???
Everyone: ????
Struck by Thunder, Regigigas instinctively raised its hand to shield itself. Ash passed through the lightning and slammed his fist squarely onto Regigigas's body.
Lucas watched Ash passing through the Thunder—
He couldn't help but swallow hard. If this kid had been born tens of thousands of years earlier, the task of towing continents might not have fallen to Regigigas.
After Ash's fist struck Regigigas, the Aura from his body instinctively penetrated Regigigas, reaching straight into its heart.
The Aura was like a single droplet, carrying the feelings of Ash, Lucas, everyone else, and all the Pokémon of the Mt. Coronet range, dripping into Regigigas's heart.
Regigigas lowered its arms and ceased its movements.
It saw images of itself in the past, stepping in to block avalanches to Protect the Pokémon and people at the foot of the mountain.
It also saw scenes of those humans worshipping and trusting it.
And scenes of Pokémon living happily and playing in the mountain range—
"Regi—"
Regigigas's lights began to dim.
"Ah, ow, ow, ow—"
Ash blew hard on his swollen fist when his foot suddenly slipped, and he fell off Regigigas.
"Lucas, help—!"
Ash flailed his limbs wildly in the air.
In the next second, he was pulled up by a hand.
Lucas held Ash's hand and had Latias fly toward the ground.
Lucas looked at the boy, whose hair was merely frizzed out.
He smiled. "You did a great job, Ash."
Ash was stunned for a moment, then grinned widely. "Hehe, Pikachu helped too."
Gengar floated over, holding Pikachu.
"Pikachu did a great job too."
Lucas and Gengar set Ash and Pikachu down on the ground.
"It would be even better if the manager could make us something delicious."
Ash suddenly spoke up before the others ran over.
Lucas had a smile on his face. "Next time you come to the Breeding House, just say what you want to eat, and I'll make it for you."
"Mhm."
Ash nodded emphatically.
Everyone gathered around Ash and Lucas; Candice, Gary, and the others also ran over.
"Is the avalanche over?"
Lucas asked.
Gothitelle nodded tiredly.
Lucas reached out and patted Gothitelle's head.
"Thank you for your hard work, Gothitelle."
Gothitelle was startled, her face suddenly turning red, and she tilted her head slightly.
"Hmph."
A soft hmph of annoyance came from his heart.
Lucas couldn't help but laugh and patted Latias's head as well. "Good job."
Then he praised Lilligant and the others one by one.
Just as everyone was talking, there was movement from Regigigas behind them again.
Everyone was on high alert.
"Did we fail—?"
Ash felt a bit unwilling.
"Damn it, is there really no other way?"
Brandon furrowed his brows again.
Lucas looked at Regigigas, whose lights were becoming calm, waved his hand, and stepped forward.
"Hello, Regigigas."
Regigigas's lights flashed.
Then its voice slowly rang out.
"Regi."
Hello.
Regigigas's ancient language was translated by Lucas's Telepathy into words he could understand.
"May I ask if you have calmed down?"
Regigigas tilted its body in a nod.
Brandon fell silent as he watched Lucas communicate with Regigigas.
As for Ash, "As expected of Lucas, so strong!"
The others nodded deeply in agreement.
"May I ask the reason for your rampage?"
There was no response for a long time.
Then, "Regi—"
I've slept for too long, my body is a bit numb—
Lucas: —
Tell me the reason again?!
Slept too long? Body numb?!
"Regi—"
I wasn't rampaging, I just got up to stretch—
Str—stretch?
Lucas looked at the mess all around them—
This stretching of yours is a bit terrifying—
"Then when we first tried to communicate with you, why—?"
I wanted to fight—
Regigigas answered.
Fighting is great!
Lucas: —
Lucas felt his worldview was about to collapse.
"I wonder if you've stretched comfortably today?"
Mhm.
Lucas finally breathed a sigh of relief. "Then, will you continue your slumber?"
Regigigas fell silent once more.
Then it shook its body.
"Gigass—"
I can't sleep. He is about to awaken. Energy, fluctuations, chaos, discomfort, space, time, merging—
Lucas fell silent.
He knew who Regigigas was talking about.
The Creator God, Arceus.
The merging of space and time likely referred to the cause of the recent events in Poplar Town.
Lucas now had a massive headache.
"Regigigas, let's make a promise."
?
"Sleep for a while first, and when you want to stretch in the future, I'll take you out to do so."
???
Regigigas looked at Lucas in confusion.
"I wonder if you've heard of the one who can't fly—ah, wait, no—the one who leaves land wherever he goes, Groudon?"
Regigigas's lights began to flash wildly.
Battle is great!
"Next time, I'll take you to stretch with him, how about that?"
Regigigas slammed the ground in agreement.
Everyone stumbled, unable to react in time.
"Do you need any help right now?"
Regigigas didn't respond.
It was several minutes later before Lucas heard Regigigas's voice again.
Sleeping. Sleepy.
Lucas felt a weight lift off his shoulders.
"Well then, goodnight."
Lucas said this out loud.
Their previous conversation had all been conducted through Regigigas's Telepathy.
"Regi."
Regigigas's voice rang out.
Then it stepped forward, walked toward the center of the temple, and sat amidst the ruins. Its lights dimmed, and it fell into a deep slumber.
Lucas clapped his hands. "Finally settled."
Gothitelle floated behind Lucas and reached out her hands to massage his shoulders.
Seeing this, Riley glanced at the Lucario beside him.
Lucario's fist turned to steel as it raised a Bullet Punch, gesturing to Riley to see if he wanted one.
Riley shook his head hurriedly.
"I made a promise to Regigigas. Just now was just its morning grumpiness; next time, before it gets up, I'll take it out to vent that grumpiness."
Brandon: —
Riley: —
Flint: —
Aaron—
Gary: —
Candice—
"Well, that's a legendary god for you; even its morning grumpiness is that massive."
Flint scratched his afro and said.
"I really didn't expect a Regigigas with Slow Start to be just as terrifying as one in a fully powered state."
Lucas couldn't help but complain.
"Regi—"
I waited a while before getting up—
Lucas was stunned: —
This Regigigas must have learned from someone; it even knows how to stack Slow Start in advance—
"Mr. Brandon, as for the remaining work—"
Lucas looked at Brandon.
Brandon nodded. "Riley and I will handle the rest."
"I'll stay and help too."
Candice said.
Lucas hummed in response and then stretched.
"I'm starving, let's go eat."
"Yay!"
Ash raised both hands high.
"I'm really tired."
Dawn said.
Flint: "It's finally over."
Aaron: "That wasn't easy at all."
Gary: "It's a good thing I called for backup in advance."
Lucas: "Spoken like a true Gary."
Gary: "Hehe."
