"Kawashima, is this really the plane you chartered? It looks like a fighter jet straight out of a mecha anime."
Eriri couldn't help but complain, "It doesn't look like a passenger plane at all."
The others chimed in, echoing her sentiment.
"We haven't stumbled into some restricted military airspace, have we?" Kasumigaoka Utaha asked, a hint of genuine worry in her voice. "It's not too late to turn back now."
"It carries passengers! And it is absolutely safe," Kawashima Toya declared with a straight face.
However, after saying that, he stared at the sleek, aggressive aircraft—which really did resemble a tactical fighter jet—and muttered doubtfully to himself.
Is there something wrong with this plane? Why does it look like a war machine?
Toya wasn't entirely sure, so he opened the System Shop to double-check.
When he bought it a few days ago, he hadn't read the description carefully. He had simply seen "extreme comfort" listed at a cheap price and made the purchase immediately.
Now, reading the details properly, he confirmed that this machine, which looked ready for an aerial dogfight, was indeed exactly what he had bought.
[Item: The Trash Fox's Aerial Touring Fighter]
[Rank: None]
[Description: A masterpiece of the current era. It possesses the ultimate comfortable environment and standard strike capabilities. If enemies are encountered in mid-air, it can shake off pursuit at maximum speed.]
No wonder it looks like a fighter jet. It literally is one.
Toya felt a bit helpless.
I should have known. Why would a personal airfield provided by the System contain a normal civilian airliner?
"Don't be scared. It's time to board."
After confirming the jet's identity, Toya led everyone onto the plane.
Once everyone was seated, the special material walls surrounding them suddenly turned transparent.
[Panoramic Sightseeing Mode activated. Destination set. Takeoff initiated.]
Toya sat back in a plush captain's chair, enjoying the view of the surrounding scenery as they ascended vertically.
Those two thousand Origin Points were worth it.
However, the others didn't share his sentiment.
Hanazono Yurine, Jashin-chan, Medusa, and Kyon-kyon—being high-ranking demons and an undead—didn't react much.
But Kasumigaoka Utaha, Kasugano Sora, and Eriri were so scared their legs went weak.
Toya looked at them teasingly. "You should try to get used to it. The flight to the destination takes nearly two hours."
"It would be a pity to miss out on the beautiful scenery of the sky."
"Im-impossible..." Eriri was the first to retort, trembling visibly as she clutched the armrests. "What kind of passenger plane is this? Why does it even have this function?"
"It feels like stepping on thin air. It's terrifying!"
Kasugano Sora didn't speak, but her small face was pale. Clearly, she was badly frightened as well.
"Deactivate Sightseeing Mode!"
Toya frowned and shouted the command immediately.
It didn't matter if the others were scared, but Sora was still young. If she got too frightened, it might leave a lasting psychological shadow.
After canceling the mode, the plane returned to its normal, opaque state.
Utaha, Sora, and Eriri collapsed back into their chairs, taking deep breaths.
"I feel alive again."
Toya smiled cheerfully. "It wasn't that scary, was it?"
"You call that not scary?"
"It felt like standing in the sky, like we could fall at any moment," Utaha said, drinking some water to calm her nerves.
"Fine, fine. Take your time to recover. I won't turn on Sightseeing Mode again."
Toya looked out the window at the clouds, feeling a wave of emotion.
It had only been a few months. He had gone from a transmigrator living in an internet café as a refugee to this.
He had thought that after activating the system, he would live a relaxed life, perhaps plagiarizing a few novels to make money in a peaceful world.
But then the system upgraded, and his life leaped from slice-of-life to a bizarre world filled with supernatural horrors.
HMMMMM—
Suddenly, a long, deep cry echoed from the distant sky.
"What is that sound?" Toya frowned. "That cry... it seems to carry the majesty of a dragon."
"But neither Western Dragons nor Eastern Dragons usually make a sound like that."
"What a beautiful sound!"
The passengers heard the deep, resonant cry and gathered by the windows, trying to locate the source.
At that moment, Tohru, who was acting as a maid, stood up with a panicked expression. "Master, that's my friend Kanna's cry."
"She seems to think I've been captured and is preparing to attack the plane."
"Eh!?"
Everyone in the cabin looked shocked. "That wasn't a happy cry? It was an attack signal?"
"I'm very sorry! I'll go stop her immediately." Tohru looked at Toya apologetically. "Master, may I go stop her?"
"Go ahead," Toya said calmly. "Tohru, I'll take you to the rear hatch."
Before leaving, Toya said sternly to the group, "Everyone stay in your seats. Do not run around!"
Moments later, Toya and Tohru leaped out of the plane.
ROAR—
Tohru instantly transformed into her massive green dragon form and roared at the sky.
Toya stood quietly in the air, waiting for Kanna's response.
Soon, a beautiful white dragon with feathered wings broke through the clouds, letting out a melodious, song-like dragon cry.
Seeing her long-lost friend, Tohru immediately rushed over happily to play with Kanna in the clouds.
As expected of a Featered Dragon. Her dragon form is much prettier than Tohru's, Toya praised silently.
To describe a giant dragon as "beautiful" was rare, which spoke volumes about how stunning the Spirit Dragon was.
"Stop the plane. Let Sora and the others see the Featered Dragon."
Toya murmured the command.
The fighter jet, which was about to accelerate to escape, halted in mid-air upon receiving Toya's order. The panoramic mode was reactivated so everyone inside could see Kanna.
Inside the plane, the passengers were captivated by the beautiful white dragon, momentarily forgetting their fear of heights.
Tohru and Kanna played and caught up for nearly ten minutes before the two dragons reluctantly flew toward the plane.
"Is the misunderstanding cleared up?" Toya asked with a faint smile. "If there won't be any attacks, I'll head back to the plane first."
"Don't worry, Master!" Tohru's energetic voice came from the green dragon. "Kanna just misunderstood. It's fine now."
The elegant white Featered Dragon looked at the human standing in the air with her blue draconic eyes and spoke in a slightly childish voice, "Hello. I am Lord Tohru's good friend."
"Kanna Kamui."
"Thank you for taking care of Lord Tohru."
Toya looked at Kanna warmly. "Strictly speaking, I'm not taking care of Tohru. She's the one taking care of us."
"You two can fly outside for a bit. I'm going back in."
Tohru and Kanna had finally reunited; he wouldn't force them to turn into human form and chat inside the cramped cabin.
Since they still had time, he let them roam freely in their true forms.
"Thank you so much, Master!"
Toya chuckled. "No need. We should be thanking you for your help, Tohru."
With that, he walked step by step back toward the plane, treading on the empty sky as if it were flat ground.
This scene left everyone, who had just been awestruck by the Spirit Dragon, in shock once again.
A human... walking on the sky as if it were solid earth.
