Chapter 248 - The Bellagio

Perkins quickly rattled off a list of her preferred hardware.

She then looked at him curiously. "You really have connections out here? How long will it take to get the gear?"

Hunter didn't actually have any local connections in Vegas, but he was a walking armory.

His [Inventory] contained hundreds of weapons. The vast majority of them had been purchased through the Continental Hotel's Sommelier after he joined the organization. He had stocked up specifically to ensure that if anyone ever tried to corner him, he could deliver a devastating, apocalyptic counterattack.

He had rows of suppressed pistols, shotguns, submachine guns, and assault rifles perfectly organized in his pocket dimension.

Beyond that, he had light machine guns, sniper rifles, various fragmentation and stun grenades, C4 explosives, and even the man-portable surface-to-air missile and anti-tank systems he and Perkins had used down in Mexico.

Mentally running through his inventory, he confirmed he had exact matches for everything on Perkins' wish list.

He nodded smoothly. "Sourcing the weapons won't be a problem. I'll go make contact later. We'll have everything by tomorrow at the latest."

It was just past noon when they arrived in Las Vegas.

They had eaten a light lunch on the first-class flight, so Perkins wasn't particularly hungry.

Hunter, on the other hand, planned to grab some real food later.

He had heard of Las Vegas, the famous "Sin City," extensively in his past life. Now that he was actually here, he intended to fully explore the adult playground.

Knowing the weaponry was handled, Perkins immediately relaxed, her professional posture melting into pure laziness.

"Aren't you going to do any recon on the target?" Hunter asked, slightly amused by her lack of urgency.

Perkins just shook her head languidly. "There's no rush. The dossier says the target is a massive casino magnate with eyes and ears all over the city."

"If we move too fast, we'll trip his alarms. Spending a few days blending in as high-rolling tourists before making the hit is just standard operational procedure."

Hunter understood immediately. Perkins had the exact same idea he did.

She wanted to play in Vegas for a few days on the Continental's dime before actually doing the work.

Hunter nodded in agreement.

It wasn't his contract anyway. If the lead assassin wasn't in a hurry, why should he care?

Besides, this trip to the gambling capital of the world presented a perfect opportunity.

Months ago, Hunter had triggered and acquired the [Gambling] skill. Over the past half-year, he had only casually played online poker during his brief moments of downtime to slowly grind experience points.

As a result, his [Gambling] skill was currently hovering around Level 3.

Now that he was in Vegas, he planned to aggressively level up his card skills at the high-stakes tables. He also wanted to see if the casino environment would trigger any new, related skills.

With his proficiency system, he wasn't worried about accumulating too many skills. As long as he had free time, he could always pick a few and grind the experience points.

Despite being reincarnated for almost half a year, Hunter felt like he had been constantly busy every single day.

"Alright," Hunter said, gently patting Perkins' thigh, signaling her to get up. "I'm going to head out, take a walk around the Strip, and maybe do some preliminary scouting."

Seeing him preparing to leave, Perkins immediately wrapped her arms tighter around his neck.

"Hold on a minute," she purred, pressing his face dangerously close to her deep, plunging neckline.

"Where are you rushing off to? I've been trying to drag you into bed for a week."

Looking into her eyes, which were practically swimming with spring water, Hunter knew exactly what was about to happen.

Yes, he had eaten incredibly well at Mrs. Smith's house over the last five days.

But it was very difficult to say no to a 5'11", supermodel-gorgeous assassin who was currently straddling him and staring at him with pure, undisguised hunger.

When premium meat is delivered directly to your mouth, it's a sin not to eat it.

Hunter was, at his core, a man with a massive appetite. His desire to explore the city instantly vanished.

"Fine," he chuckled.

With a sudden burst of strength, he stood up from the sofa, carrying Perkins effortlessly in his arms.

He turned toward the en-suite bathroom, but the impatient assassin bit his earlobe.

"We can shower later."

Hunter smoothly changed direction, carrying her straight into the master bedroom.

Three hours later.

Hunter stepped out of the steaming shower, a towel wrapped around his waist.

He glanced into the bedroom. Perkins was dead to the world, tangled in the luxury sheets. Because she had actively provoked him, he had used a bit more of his superhuman strength during their "communication."

She wasn't going to be doing any sightseeing in Vegas today.

Dressing in a sharp, casual suit, Hunter finally left the hotel alone.

He didn't bother hailing a cab. His five-star hotel was located right in the bustling heart of the Las Vegas Strip. Everything was within walking distance.

He strolled down the massive, neon-lit boulevard, taking in the sensory overload.

As he walked, he overheard a tour guide practically shouting through a portable microphone to a group of trailing tourists.

"Welcome to the Las Vegas Strip, the most famous stretch of road on planet Earth!"

"Right here on this boulevard, you'll find three of the most legendary, high-grossing casinos in the world."

"The Bellagio, the Mirage, and the MGM Grand! If you're looking to strike it rich, those are the tables you want to play at!"

"But remember folks, the house always wins. Very few people leave Vegas richer than they arrived, so keep a tight grip on your wallets!"

Hunter, who had casually slowed his pace to listen to the guide, found himself intrigued.

Without realizing it, he had followed the tour group right up to the massive, sprawling entrance of an incredibly opulent, Italian-themed resort.

He looked up at the iconic architecture and the massive man-made lake out front.

It was the Bellagio—one of the absolute crown jewels of the Las Vegas casino empire.

"The Bellagio, huh..."

Hunter smiled. A thought crossed his mind, and he reached his hand into his suit jacket pocket.

Instantly, a genuine, limited-edition luxury watch worth hundreds of thousands of dollars appeared on his wrist, completing his "high-roller" aesthetic.

Simultaneously, a thick stack of crisp hundred-dollar bills materialized in his inner pocket.

Exactly ten thousand dollars.

Looking the part of a wealthy tourist, Hunter confidently strode through the massive glass doors of the Bellagio.

"Welcome to the Bellagio, sir. We hope you have a wonderful time," a greeter chimed automatically.

The Bellagio was a behemoth, processing tens of thousands of tourists and gamblers every single day. The staff couldn't possibly offer personalized VIP service to every person walking through the door unless they were a known "whale."

Fortunately, the casino floor was a maze of brightly lit signs.

Hunter followed the glowing placards straight to the main cashier's cage.

He pulled the ten thousand dollars in cash from his pocket and slid it across the marble counter.

The teller rapidly counted the bills and slid back a neat stack of high-value casino chips.

With his ammunition secured, Hunter pocketed the chips and began a leisurely stroll through the sprawling, chaotic ocean of slot machines and table games.
