Storm chased after the thief.
"Get back here!!" Shouted Storm.
The thief weaved through the crowds effortlessly.
Storm accidentally bumped into a man that was walking slowly in front of him.
"Excuse me!!" Called Storm as the man began shouting insults at him.
The thief ran past a fruit cart and pocketed an apple, causing the vendor to shout at him.
A cart driver pulled up in front of them slowly and blocked the road ahead.
"Got you now!!" Thought Storm.
Much to his suprise, the thief didn't slow down. He ran full speed at the cart, then vaulted over it with effortless ease, before continuing his dash without even slowing down.
"Damn it!!" Thought Storm.
He squeezed past the wagon, then scanned the crowd trying to spot the thief.
He saw him entering an alley between two houses and Storm continued his pursuit
When he got to the alley he was suprised to find the man had dissappeared and the alley was a dead end that led to the city walls.
"Where did he go?" Thought Storm.
He slowly walked forward but found no place where the thief could be hiding.
His foot struck something and he looked down to see a trap door that was so well camouflaged, he would have been unable to see it if it wasn't partially open.
"Very clever!" Thought Storm.
He opened the hatch and revealed a simple ladder that led downward into a dark tunnel.
Storm climbed down and began to slowly navigate through the low tunnel.
"This seems to go underneath the walls." Exclaimed Mimereus.
After a few minutes, Storm saw a wooden door in front of him that was partially open.
A dull glow came from the other side.
Storm shoved open the door to find what looked like a small hideout.
Up against the wall was an armor stand which held an ornate suit of leather armor.
A note was pinned to the chest piece with the words 'wear me' written on it.
Ignoring the armor for now, Storm walked to a table that held a letter, his pouch of gold, a short sword that was secured to a simple leather scabbard and a single lit candle.
He picked up and read the letter.
"Courtesy of the Prince of Shadows.
We will be watching.
P.S take better care of your things next time!!" Read Storm.
Storm saw a crude picture of a dragon drawn on the wall, along with an arrow that pointed towards a ladder that led back to the surface.
Grumbling to himself, he pocketed his gold again before returning to the armor.
It was a finely made piece that would have cost an exorbitant price if Storm had tried to purchase this.
Storm touched the blackened leather, it was tough but also flexible enough for a range of acrobatic feats.
"I wonder from what leather this was made from? This is extraordinary craftsmanship?" Thought Storm.
The armor ended at his lower belly and a simple grey silk shirt with sleeves that ended at his elbows was provided to wear underneath the armor.
2 black leather gloves were provided to protect his hands and wrists, as well as a pair of grey trousers that had an excessive amount of pockets.
For his feet, there was an pair of black leather knee high boots.
A long hooded grey cloak that could be closed at the front to hide his armor and weapons was hanged on the stand that held the armor.
The last bit was a cresent shaped piece of leather with a simple stretchy strap at the back with no buckles.
Storm struggled to figure out what this was used for.
"It's a face guard, Storm. You place it at the bottom of your face to hide it from sight and to protect your mouth." Explained Mimereus.
Since the outfit was better than what he was wearing now, Storm stripped and began putting on the outfit.
He first put on the long sleeve shirt and trousers, then put on the leather boots.
He lowered the leather chest armor over his body and fastened the straps to secure it to himself.
He put on the leather gloves, then secured the guard to his face.
Lastly, he put on the cloak, then closed it to see if it would be able to hide his form.
Once he was done, he stretched and flexed to test out the armor.
"It fits reasonably well! Although, why are the gloves so spac... Ohh, hidden pockets... of course."
Storm rolled his eyes.
He walked to the table and fastened the scabbard to his belt and pulled out the sword.
The metal was black as night and exceptionally sharp, there was no trace of magic on it at all.
"That's volcanic obsidian!! An extremely sharp metal that acts as a magic repellent. If anyone tried to throw a spell at you while you had that!! You could pretty much cut the spell apart with it!!" Exclaimed Mimereus.
"At least this chase bore fruit, and it seems we have an entrance into the city now. We'd better fetch Aurora before we continue. " Thought Storm.
Storm returned to the door where he first entered the room.
As he opened it, a white blur jumped at him and tackled him off his feet.
He hit the ground back first then felt something heavy sit on his chest and an pair of arms pin his shoulders to the ground.
"I've got you!! Storm!! I've caught the thief!! Come quickly!!" Called Aurora.
"Aurora!! It's me!!" Shouted Storm.
He lowered the face guard so that she could see.
"Storm? Where did you get that!?"
"In the room!
Along with the gold that was stolen and what appears to be a hidden entrance into the city. " Explained Storm.
"And the thief?" Asked Aurora.
Storm shook his head.
"Probably long gone by now."
She got off his chest and helped him to his feet.
They walked towards the table together and Storm handed her the letter.
"Can we trust him?" Asked Aurora.
"He's no friend to mankind based on the list of crimes he's committed, but until we know his motives, we'd best proceed with caution. " answered Storm.
They went to the ladder and began to climb. When he reached the top, Storm carefully opened the hatch and peeked through the gap.
The hatch opened into what appeared to be a large empty storeroom of some kind.
No one seems to be present inside.
Storm climbed the rest of the way up, then turned around and helped Aurora up.
